Job Description

Onward Search seeks a talented web Designer to join our 5 years old Start-Up client located in San Francisco. This company specializes in Cloud Services and Information sharing across various web portals, transforming documents and data anywhere. This is a senior-level role with significant responsibility, creativity, leadership, and business sense required, and an amazing opportunity for someone who is ready to shape the future of a young technology brand with big potential. As Creative Director, you are the one ultimately responsible for the vision, quality, and consistency of all creative and brand assets, You'll lay the foundation for our client’s emerging creative team to define and deliver their brand voice and visual identity to the world. You will also help them build and lead a fantastic team of designers, writers, and producers to tell our client’s product, company, and customer stories. What you'll be doing

  • Understand and bring to life our client’s multiple brands across a variety of mediums and all customer communications (web, email, print, interactive), driving quality, design integrity and capabilities while inspiring best-in-class user experiences
  • Own the development, evolution and communication of brand standards and have ultimate accountability for brand consistency across a range of vehicles including campaigns and assets, products and services, email, and other online and offline marketing programs
  • Lead projects independently and manage creative resources to ensure on-time delivery
  • Develop a library of brand relevant assets, images, templates and frameworks to enable designers and contractors globally to operate effectively within established brand guidelines
  • Drive branding initiatives from start to finish, including the effective expression of value propositions for multiple audiences
  • Direct the creative team in producing marketing-driven creative assets for our websites, marketing collateral, advertisements, emails and all other visual representations of our client’s brand from concept through completion
  • Work with analysts to regularly review results and optimize creative accordingly
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing and Product teams as a key strategic partner - understand each team's business objectives and help them to drive the business forward by proactively contributing strategic and tactical program ideas, working with them to develop thorough creative briefs, delivering excellent creative and monitoring results together
  • Oversee the work produced by the creative team, and help designers produce superior creative work that meets client objectives, brand standards, and usability best practices - lead by example
  • Manage and direct agency partnerships and other third-party contractors as required
  • Manage resource allocation, planning and execution of all creative projects; implement, track and monitor efficiency and other quality metrics to ensure the creative organization is successful at delivering against objectives and meeting the business needs of various stakeholders (i.e. marketing, product management, etc.)
  • Oversee image and photo selection for all marketing - excellent editorial eye required
  • Partner with executive team members with presentations and other creative support
  • Act as the principal steward for our client’s brands, ensuring consistent application of brand vision and voice across all products, campaigns, and programs

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years experience managing creative services, brand development, or design, ideally in a consumer technology company.
  • A portfolio with at least 5 years of solid commercial design work
  • Proven experience building and leading an interdisciplinary team of creatives.
  • Thorough understanding of and experience in interactive communications systems and processes, as well as user interface and user experience design aligned with industry best practices
  • Hands-on, working familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks, HTML, DHTML, CSS
  • Ability to judge creative concepts and copy, and clearly communicate creative direction to others
  • Proven ability to think conceptually and broadly about projects and the brand as a whole, and to develop and evolve creative systems
  • Expert understanding of art direction and storytelling
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication, planning, time-management and follow-through skills
  • Experience establishing and maintaining brand guidelines
  • BA/BFA or equivalent industry experience
