Are you a control freak who likes to keep everything in your personal and professional life hyper-organized? 

Let's do a quick role play, shall we?

You are in someones office at your current work to discuss an important and high profile Interactive Marketing project deliverable and are unable to concentrate on what they are saying to you because behind them, there is a picture that is slightly cock-eyed and needs straightening? 

All you hear is "blah blah blah.."   Your heart starts beating faster-you are sure Mr. Blah Blah Blah can hear it- your palms are sweaty and you can barely keep from collapsing because the room starts to spin. You feel as though you re no longer able to control the chaos that is taking place in your Type A brain and eventually interrupt Mr. Blah Blah Blah and demand he allows you to fix the picture behind him.

Ok, no more role play...

Welcome to your new role as Interactive Event Marketing Coordinator! Our client is a wicked smart software organization that needs a Type A'er like you.

Yes, yes, yes, this is a contract role-and a good one to boot.  Someone really brilliant once said (I think it was my mom) "Don't get hung up on how you get to the party, just make an entrance that is memorable (and favorable) once you get there." That's some free advice for you.  Enjoy it. 

So yes, it's a contract, but a long-term one and an important one (mostly because you will be in it).  Look at all the important day-to-day responsibilities they are going to give YOU:

  • Webinars, webinars, webinars- live in them, love them and think about them often. 
  • Make people attend them. Find speakers for them, keep things organized, keep everyone on schedule. 
  • Trouble shoot things technically when the speaker sounds like Darth Vader (but is a woman and doesn't want to sound that way). 
  • Be polite and don't point a finger at the heavy breather who forgot to (or perhaps doesn't want to) put himself/herself on mute. 
  • Upload stuff, download stuff!
  • Manage post-event communications

Put your Bachelor's of Communications Degree to the test by creating polling questions-just keep them related to the webinar subject matter and OH THE PLACES YOU WILL GO!

By the way, be available; tomorrow and for the next 3-6 months.
