Job Description
The Senior Manager, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is specifically responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive Search Engine Optimization (SEO) programs for our client. In addition, this person will be responsible for creating and maintaining SEO programs for three localized Global sites. The Search Engine Optimization program goal is to drive revenue and awareness by expanding and optimizing organic search listings against a list of strategic keywords.
Requirements
Strategy & Business Objectives
- Develops and implements ongoing strategies to optimize Global and localized Global sites.
- Identifies, evaluates, tests and executes new opportunities to promote in domestic and global search engines and search-related platforms.
- Manages and/or conducts customer needs assessment and competitive analysis.
- Works with agencies to explore and test new opportunities and to plan for online growth.
- Develops and presents strategic recommendations for participation to appropriate business partners.
- Responsible for achieving annual SEO revenue and ROI targets for all Marriott websites.
Program Execution and Analysis
- Analyzes and optimizes program results by working closely with Measurement & Analysis, e-Commerce Product Development, Marriott International Marketing, and other groups as needed.
- Develops an enterprise-wide strategy & training schedule for ensuring SEO guidelines and best practices are incorporated into new and existing processes and projects.
- Defines and communicate SEO-related strategy and goals to cross-functional development teams.
- Follows through on implementation of strategy by serving as the SEO stakeholder within select and/or global site development projects.
- Analyzes and communicates monthly results to cross-functional teams.
- Expands Search Engine Optimization efforts to future global sites as necessary.
- Oversees execution of external link building campaigns for all sites, which include (but not limited to):
- Management of multiple, in-market link placement vendors.
- Search leveraged public relations tactics.
- Paid inclusion programs.
- Expanding program to include multiple offerings/tiers.
- Exploring alternate staffing and expansion options within cost-recoverable budget.
- Monitors changing search landscape for implications to site, global sites and field optimization efforts.
- Manages all SEO programs within budget.
Interaction with Regional Field Marketing Efforts
- Takes an active role in communicating with members of the domestic and global field e-Commerce organization regarding corporate SEO efforts and sharing of Best Practices.
- Cultivates and manages relationships with key stakeholders to drive the endorsement and adoption of International eCommerce Marketing search engine programs.
- Coordinates and implements training sessions for field marketing managers on how to implement SEO best practices; respond to field questions regarding search engine optimization.
Work Teams and Vendor Relations
- Primary point of contact for all external SEO agencies of record:
- May involve coordination with one domestic agency as well as 6 or more global agencies in multiple local markets.
- Manages annual vendor contracts, quarterly reviews, and weekly updates.
- Provides strategic direction for the development of vendor deliverables (Keyword investigations and mapping, directory research and URL submissions, paid inclusions, visibility rank checking, link popularity, competitor comparisons, and campaign reporting)
- Ensures deliverables occur in timely fashion.
- Evaluates competitive agency landscape & conduct agency searches as needed. Negotiate annual agreements.
- Coordinates and manage relationships with search engine industry contacts (ie: Google, Yahoo, Baidu) worldwide.

- Some travel, domestic and international, is required.
