Job Description
A Washington, DC based PR and communications firm who represent Fortune 500 companies as well as major international companies all over the world is looking for a web developer to join their Digital team. The ideal candidate should be able to work within a dynamic, fast paced and leading-edge technological environment where consistent delivery of results is crucial to business success.
Responsibilities:
- Use software engineering best practices to refactor and develop new robust, highly maintainable PHP code, specifically Drupal.
- Develop code that efficiently and securely interacts with multiple databases
- Identify potential optimizations and resolve bottlenecks
- Communicate effectively with your team, providing help where needed
- Design and implement applications that provide a useful and compelling experience for users
- Complete ownership of projects, from design to review, implementation, testing and go live
- Participate in the code review process
- Invent and evangelize best practices throughout the team
Requirements
- A drive to create the most friendly and useful applications possible
- Thorough knowledge of object oriented programming practices
- In-depth knowledge of the PHP 5 language
- Excellent knowledge of JavaScript, and ideally the jQuery toolkit
- Experience building large-scale PHP applications
- Extensive experience with and knowledge of Drupal, and specifically the Übercart module a plus
- Excellent knowledge of JavaScript, and ideally the jQuery toolkit
- Ecommerce knowledge a plus
- Ability to create and style standards-compliant XHTML and CSS
- A thirst to uncover new techniques and technologies and to share them
- Experience working in a high performance, high impact PHP/Apache/Linux (LAMP) environment
- Excellent spoken and written communications skills, and the ability to work well with diverse personality types
- B.S. or M.S. (or equivalent) degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred
