Onward Search has an exciting opportunity for an Account Director at global digital communications company in San Francisco. As an Account Director, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of your client team; inspiration, the client P&L, relationship building, marketing strategy, campaign development and management, and business analysis. This role is strategic and hands on. A successful Account Director will be expert in the clinical data, drive the day to day initiatives, anticipate business needs, ideate with the team, drive new strategies, and achieve revenue and profitability goals.

This is a full-time opportunity that kicks-off at the beginning of March.


  • Establish and nurture client relationships, building trust, credibility and client referrals
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of clients’ businesses, industry, brands, landscape and objectives, etc. to uncover business needs and objectives, and craft appropriate strategies to achieve client goals
  • Ensure the highest level of client satisfaction and flawless execution of deliverables; trouble shoot any and all internal and client issues/matters
  • Educate, inform and advise clients, positioning the agency as the ‘go to’ digital partner for strategic thinking and execution
  • Identify opportunities to expand business/services with current clients
  • Provide strategic and marketing leadership supporting the role of digital in clients’ overall marketing mix
  • Drive innovation across all client initiatives
  • Oversee financial management of client account(s): profit/loss, revenue, forecasting, utilization and billing
  • Grow agency revenue and profitability on existing clients
  • Be a leader of your team, offering direction and support, ensuring the agency has the correct level of skills to grow the accounts
  • Promote collaboration between agency departments and the thoughtful utilization of agency resources
  • Continuously monitor and review the processes and skills of the team ensuring the clients receive the best in class service
  • Lead and coach team in strategic planning and development
  • Mentor, train and support account staff; provide constructive guidance and feedback as necessary; conduct performance evaluations and staff development planning


  • 5+ years of related industry and agency experience, including pharma, account services roles
  • Agency of Record (AOR) experience
  • Deep digital marketing experience
  • Healthcare experience, pharma and HCP focused Rx product experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working on new product launch
  • Strong knowledge and experience in multiple areas of marketing – digital, strategy, media, search, RM, branding, social, mobile, etc.
  • Proven ability leading teams
  • Confidence in problem solving and resolving conflict
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to sell ideas
  • College degree required
  • Demonstrated track record of client relationship development and service


  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
