Onward Search's client is seeking an Account Director to work with their clients and staff to oversee production as well as other projects for their many clients. The Account Director is the senior person on an account and oversees the creative, strategic and operational direction to deliver excellence. The Account Director is responsible for gaining a clear understanding of the existing client needs, and developing and implementing relationships and strategies to increase the company’s service offerings to the client. Additionally, the Account Director is responsible for the overall financial performance of the account(s) and ensuring the achievement of budgeted profit. The Account Director is responsible for savings delivery and service delivery.

This role is the face of the agency: interacts directly with clients and vendors, as well as oversees staff and works with internal finance, creative, technology, contracts and account management.


  • BA in Marketing or related.
  • 5+ years in Account Management (agency side).
  • 3+ years in Pharma account management role is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of Pharma regulatory and compliance process.
  • Solid experience with campaign management and content production across all channels.
  • Must understand production and versioning of TVC elements, digital and social execution, print (collateral, ads, direct mail), Press and OOH.
  • Knowledge of PM, Workflow, and Digital Asset Management technology.
  • Experience with billing/invoicing cycle to account receivables.
  • Must know more than one media type.
  • Experience with owning/managing one or more P&Ls.
  • Expert level customer service skills - solid solution finder.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize workload.
  • Detail oriented & highly organized.
  • Polished presentation skills.
  • Experience in motivating and leading a team.
  • Experience overseeing Sr. Account Managers, Creative Services, Project Managers, Studio employees, etc.


  • Oversees one or more account service teams.
  • Directly responsible for the account P&L.
  • Analyzes line by line where time is being spent on the account.
  • Conducts diagnostic meetings with the existing clients for process audits as well as with issue tracking and resolution.
  • Supports agency in crafting responses to RFIs, RFPs, and SOWs.
  • Creates quotes and builds/expands client pricing schedules to align with the support requirements for that client.
  • Finds opportunities to expand services.
  • Conducts budget review meetings with the client as needed.
  • Ensures communication with clients meets expectations.
  • Acts as the client escalation point person for senior leadership.
  • Create a yearly plan of work/budget scope with the client to discuss the relationship, performance, budget, new strategic initiatives.
  • Oversees management of projects/campaign details and helps coordinate from start to finish.
  • Trains client on internal use of agency systems.
  • Succession planning - oversees the growth and management of staff.
  • Oversees the creation of Management Information (MI) on a regular basis that includes metrics for KPIs and SLAs.
  • Provide input for Quarterly Business Review.
  • Participate in Client Feedback Program to monitor client satisfaction levels.
  • Could manage more than one account.
  • Help recruit new staff.
