We are seeking an AS400 consultant for a part-time project with a national client. We are looking to fill the role with a candidate with the skills and experience outlined below. 


  • IPL of each partition - By the 2nd weekend of every other month, we would like for all barriers to be IPL’d.
  • There are about 15 systems, a solid 45 min per system should be budgeted, along with coordination with the user we estimate 10 hrs per month staggering on a given weekend each month.
  • Password Resetting – Every 90 days, we would like for all internal RLM users.
  • this is a policy that should include both a secure password vault and expected support calls for lockouts, etc. no current estimate but we can presume 5 to 10 hrs a month for support depending on user acceptance
  • PTF’s – Every other month, we would like PTF’s to be applied to the machine before the next scheduled IPL.
  • PTF application is typically several hour allocations per logical system. We count about 15 logical operations to date. 20 to 25 hrs a month is a safe estimate.
  • Allocation and reallocation of resources to the existing LPARS on an as needed basis.
  • A monitoring package such ad Performance Navigator should be purchased, then its results would be worked with on an ongoing basis.. Today there is a single system with two CPU pools, additional capacity and allocation management should be a daily activity.
  • Back up monitoring and back up restoration testing on the i-Series – Ensure backups complete daily.
