Onward Search is looking for a freelance Associate Creative Director of Content & Copy to join our agency client in Charlotte for a project-based contract role!

PLEASE NOTE: While the work can be completed remotely, candidates must live within driving distance of Charlotte, NC and Greensboro, NC.

Project Scope:

  • The work can be completed remotely but candidates must live within driving distance of Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • This is a W2 contract role and 40hrs/week are expected.
  • Start date is expected to be late-Jan/early-Feb and the project will run for 4-6 months.
  • The client is in the insurance industry.

Position Summary:

  • The Associate Creative Director (Copy) is responsible for creative execution and production of all assets in a project, campaign or account.
  • The ideal candidate will be curious and inventive, with the ability to multi-task and collaborate with client and agency partners.
  • This person must be able to create (and review others in creating) audience-centric assets, inclusive of long form articles, short form copy, video scripts, infographics, social media and other digital copy across all channels.
  • Experience working with complex topics and regulated industries a plus.
  • Qualified candidates will have recent experience leading creative work inside a national brand or inside an agency serving such brands.
  • Review of work samples and /or a link to an online portfolio will be part of the screening process for this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation of all content, inclusive of video scripts, short-and-long form articles, white papers, digital and social, display and body copy
  • Present creative work internally and externally
  • Manage the day-to-day production of creative work
  • Manage and mentor junior copy creatives (Senior Editor, Copywriter, etc.)
  • Give clear, constructive feedback to the team
  • Lead ideation and brainstorming sessions
  • Responsible for informing creative hour estimates and deadlines in collaboration with the project manager
  • Adhere to the creative process
  • Work with PM to prioritize work for the team
  • Maintain good rapport and relationships with key client contacts (on designated work streams or projects)
  • Ensure the work adheres to brand guidelines for assigned client work
  • Collaborate and share ideas and best practices with ACDs across the organization

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in a copy-focused creative role in a fast-paced agency environment. In-house agency experience may be substituted.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, communications, marketing or a related field
  • Ability to craft and edit copy that is creative, engaging and accurate.
  • Interviewing and reporting skills to tell brand stories
  • Intermediate copyediting skills to catch errors in presentations, assets, internal communications
  • Collaboration and communication across disciplines at the agency
  • Must be able to articulate the solve for the "The Strategic Why" presented by the strategy team and how the creative uniquely addresses the strategic insight and helps meet business objectives
  • Deep understanding of the emotional and tactical needs for target audiences, channels and platforms
  • Ability to give clear constructive feedback to the creative team
  • Proficient in: Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint; Wordpress or other CMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with and ability to follow SEO best practices and social media specifications for copy
