Onward Search is hiring for an Marketing and Event Content Writer! This is a contract to hire position with a non-profit located Downtown Atlanta. On-site. Benefits available during the contract period.
Marketing and Event Content Writer will create content for the organization's internal communication channels and write communications and scripts for events that inspire audiences to give, advocate and volunteer.
Serve as writer and content strategist for a large variety of external communications including web copy, newsletters to segmented groups and full database, print materials, blogs, thought leadership initiatives, and more
Write event scripts (speeches, activity on stage, visual planning, etc.) for all events, serving audiences ranging from 100-1,500 people. Support event execution by prepping speakers, planning visuals with creative team, and working alongside A/V vendors to both prep them for the shows and also execute day of by “calling the show” (audio cues, visual cues, on-stage transitions)
Have the ability to handle sensitive issues related to poverty, race, hunger, etc. with tact, emotion, sensitivity, and knowledge
Collaborate with creative team on projects ranging from video story-boarding and script writing support to the roll-out of major projects such as campaign materials
Serve in a consultative capacity on teams related to organizational goals (ex. building brand ambassadors and increasing employee engagement)
Serve in a strategic role for all major internal and event-related initiatives
Work with key internal clients to position changes appropriately, communicate relevant information and help move audience members towards awareness, understanding and desired behaviors
Develop original editorial content for the company’s channels ranging from written communications such intranet updates, company news articles, internal newsletters and more
Provide communications support on key company priorities and projects both internal and external
Coordinate and disseminate multimedia content to internal employees
Measure and continually improve strategy to drive engagement among staff via communications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or English Rhetoric
5+ years’ successful experience in Employee Communications and/or Corporate Communications.
Skills and Abilities
Proven experience writing and developing communications and scripts for events
Demonstrated ability for successful project management, audience assessment and volunteer management.
Must possess ability to communicate effectively to multiple external audiences across multiple projects
Exceptional verbal and written communications, strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, team player, consensus builder, and persuasive communicator.
Solid skills in AP Style
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time in a consistent manner
Meticulous attention to detail
Ability to navigate successfully in a rapidly changing
Resourceful and effective problem solver
Takes initiative to maximize opportunity
Proficient in Microsoft Suite Ability to simultaneously and successfully manage multiple projects across multiple channels
