Onward Search is looking for an AWS DevOps Engineer to join our agency client in Greensboro, North Carolina! This is ASAP start.

Please Note: This person MUST sit onsite in Greensboro; out-of-market candidates are OK, but all work must be completed onsite. Hotel reimbursement available but no additional travel expense coverage provided. Flexibility to work anywhere between 20-40 hours/week. The minimum 6-week contract could go full-time/perm for the right person.

Job Summary:

  • Under the general supervision of the VP of Technology, you will provide technical leadership and mentoring to the Interactive team in support and extension of Amazon AWS and other Cloud providers as required.
  • You will be required to design, manage, test, document, deploy, secure, monitor, scale, support and sustain the 24/7 AWS architectures.
  • You will also be responsible for participating in scheduled detailed information gathering sessions with the development and support teams to provide feedback on direction and impact on the infrastructure.
  • Current AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification strongly preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Application Developers and technology teams to formulate long-range technical infrastructure and architecture plans.
  • Serve as a technical lead resource on strategic, infrastructure related projects.
  • Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to other IT team members as needed or requested.
  • Provide input and direction on future integrations of new businesses into the organization and infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain project plans for Cloud initiated projects.
  • Participate in defining maintenance weekend update plans and security pathing activities.
  • Advanced system administration skills in support of Linux (CentOS) including in-depth scripting and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and support configuration management code (Ansible, Chef, CloudFormation).
  • Manage and support monitoring and alerting platforms (DataDog, Uptime, Site24x7).
  • Manage and support software versioning repositories (Subversion, GitLab).
  • Manage and support web server applications (Nginx Plus, Apache).
  • Manage and support build and deploy tools (Jenkins, TeamCity, Rundeck).
  • Manage and support Incident Management platform (OpsGenie) and be primary contact in an on-call rotation.
  • Manage and support Issue Management platform (Jira).
  • Manage and support Syslog and application logging platform (SumoLogic).
  • Day to day support for Cloud applications hosted on AWS.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field.
  • Current AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification strongly preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience of interactive/web development experience.
  • Experience with AWS cloud computing products and services, EC2, Auto Scaling, IAM, EBS, RDS, S3, and Security.
  • Exposure to the AWS SDK and application APIs.
  • Solid understanding of software development processes.
  • Ability to analyze technical issues to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
  • Advanced Linux, Nginx, MySQL, PHP expertise and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledgeable of security tools, compliance, and environment security monitoring.
  • Knowledgeable of CMS platforms (WordPress, Drupal).
  • Working knowledge of cloud automation tools, Ansible experience preferred.
  • Problem-solving mentality and the focus to work on tasks that take an extended amount of time to complete.
  • Ability to implement third-party vendor products.
