Our client has an immediate need for a Content Director to join their team in Chicago.

This Content Director is the heart and soul of his or her team. This position will provide strategic vision, creative inspiration, quality control, and daily leadership for the omnichannel content marketing program, client relationship and editorial staff of two or more financial services accounts.

This position will report to the President and oversee editorial programs for the agency.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Developing a strong, trusted relationship with the client team and in-house teams, across client silos
  • Deeply understanding each client’s business and marketing objectives. You’ll work with your VP, Client Strategy and account content team to generate creative ideas for ongoing client projects driving—always—for the highest quality, most creative, most useful realization of every element of an account’s omnichannel program. This can and typically includes: digital content, video, infographics, content hubs, social media, print and paid distribution
  • Having a strong working knowledge and proficiency in the following areas: digital (including social media and video), metrics analysis, SEO, audience development and content strategy principles possessing deep expertise in content creation, journalism best practices, and stellar content packaging and editing skills 
  • Managing day-to-day content development, production and workflow, as well as synthesizing input and feedback from internal stakeholders across multiple departments
  • Staying up on content marketing industry best practices and trends across channels and formats and powerfully communicating them to your team, colleagues and clients
  • Creating and leading client presentations that offer results-driving big ideas and growth opportunities, as well as regular status check-ins and program analysis
  • Ensuring consistent delivery of content deliverables and distribution strategies that meet or exceed clients’ and our agency’s high expectations and standards for quality, creativity and excellence working with project leads (print, design, social media, metrics, etc.) to ensure accuracy of message, alignment across media channels, quality of content and ROI; maintaining workflow and schedule management of projects
  • Communicating your expertise and passion about content marketing innovation and growth opportunities for each account
  • Being a great manager with stellar communication chops and outstanding leaderships skills
  • Participating, when available, in new business development preparation and presentations
  • The ideal candidate has a strong background in content marketing, journalism and managing a team. Must have experience reporting, writing and editing, and an expert in both long-form and short-form content creation across topics and channels. The ability to edit content in the client’s voice is required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of strong Ad Agency, Digital Marketing or PR agency experience
  • Experience using Google Analytics or similar tools to evaluate content performance
  • Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Expertise using social media to engage users and promote content, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and other popular platforms
  • Superior proficiency in using computers and mobile devices including fluency in using the Internet, mobile apps, Google Apps and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to quickly learn new software programs
  • Preference given to candidates with: Leadership, PR, SEO and marketing experience


  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
