Job Description:

This role provides copy editing and publishing support for employee-focused communications. The primary responsibility is to provide editorial support for the online employee news publication, including using the internal content management system to manage and publish: internally produced stories, graphics and videos; reprints of relevant external media stories; informational briefs and announcements; and other event-based news items. Photo editing and light HTML coding are also required. Additional reporting, writing or graphic design needs may arise.

Required skills:

  • Exhaustive knowledge and application of Associated Press style
  • Copy editing and news/headline writing experience
  • Photo selection, basic photo editing and journalistic caption writing
  • News judgment/analysis
  • Strong organization and project management
  • Excellent interpersonal communication
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work both independently (self-starter) and collaboratively
  • Flexibility
  • Strategic thinking
  • Comfort and professionalism in providing counsel/advice to superiors

Preferred Skills:

  • Competency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Reporting/interviewing
  • Web content management system publishing experience preferred (will train on internal system)
  • Metrics gathering and analysis
  • Basic HTML knowledge
  • Documented participation in social media platforms

This role sits on site in the northern suburbs however will flex to remote 1 day a week once settled in. If this sounds like you and the commute to the northern suburbs of Chicago is a non-issue, please introduce yourself by applying below!



  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
