Cloud Platform Developer

Onward Search is seeking a Cloud Platform Developer for one of our large financial clients on a contract basis, working remotely in Eastern Standard Time.  

Candidates within occasional commute distance of New York City are preferred, to visit the NYC office approximately once every 2-3 months.

Job Summary:
We're looking for a full stack software engineer to join an Agile team working on an internal cloud-based platform. This role involves developing back-end services in Python and modern front-end UI frameworks as part of a global Agile technology team. We're seeking a delivery-focused individual with an agile development mindset.

Requirements:

• Senior software engineer with a proactive approach and the ability to deliver quality results with minimal guidance.
• Over 10 years of software engineering experience, with a strong command of Python 3.10+.
• Proficiency in object-oriented design and working with modular systems.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in developing user interfaces using major frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
• Preferably experienced in React or Vue, with a solid understanding of Single Page Application (SPA) architecture.
• Competency in cloud services development, particularly with AWS services like ECS/Docker, S3, Elasticache, and Redis.
• Strong background in creating RESTful web APIs.
• Proficiency in Python-based ASGI/WSGI frameworks (at least one of Flask, FastAPI, Sanic).
• Expertise in popular Python libraries such as Pydantic, Boto3, SQLAlchemy, and Redis.
• Strong skills in SQL and relational database modeling, with a preference for PostgreSQL.
• Collaborative team player, accustomed to working in teams of 4-5 engineers and participating in Agile ceremonies.
• Maintains high standards for code style, performance, and testability.
• Extensive experience in unit testing, logging, and benchmarking.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, including scanning, testing, building, and deployment processes.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Quantitative Finance is required, or equivalent work experience.
• Must be available to work during Eastern or Central time zone business hours.
