Our client, a Fortune 500 organization in the far northern suburbs, is seeking a mid career communications specialist to join their Information Security team in a year long contract role. In this role, you will be responsible for:


  • Executive-level reporting for Information Security.
  • Documenting key activities undertaken by the Information Security Program and supporting strategies.
  • Ensuring communications are aligned with the Information Security Program, Policies, and Standards.
  • Ensuring inclusion of all regulatory, legal, and contractual requirements.
  • Refreshing communications on executive-reporting cadence or as needed by the business.


  • Understand the state of cyber security.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and exhibit strong partnering skills, with the ability to interact with various levels of management and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions regarding root cause analysis of business issues and/or opportunities that lead to the development of communications plans.
  • Apply functional knowledge to assist with the creation and execution of strategic communications plans; leads small to moderate specific plan segments with consultation from others.
  • Have a clear understanding of the business issues and uses communication to help solve organizational problems and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Draft high quality reports and ensures actions are well documented in accordance with department standards.
  • Graphic skills to create clear, concise reports and compelling PopwerPoint presentations.
  • The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree with over 5 years of communication planning and writing experience.
  • Exceptional writing skills across a range of disciplines (global messaging, letters, scripts, etc).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional PowerPoint skills as well as a basic understanding of technology.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable in taking initiative and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Preferably experience in an information security-related role (preference toward candidates with financial services experience on regulatory or contractual information security compliance projects)
  • Understanding of audit/risk management methodologies and regulatory requirements pertaining to information security, privacy and/or data security.
  • The ability to communicate complex information to an executive audience; specifically, to clearly articulate a compelling cyber and information security strategy to stakeholders from across the enterprise.
  • Comfort with managing multiple complex priorities and competing agendas.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, influencing and leadership skills.
  • The ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations across a large, complex enterprise.
  • Analytical aptitude.
