Onward Search is looking for a Creative Copywriter who can successfully handle both highly conceptual and detailed work. In this role, you will be partnering with an Art Director to work on a variety of digital & traditional based projects; Projects will include everything from manuals, how-to-guides, direct mail and emails, prospecting materials, banner ads and product page channel. You will also be involved in creating, building and presenting multi-channel integrated campaign experiences. This role is a 6 month extendable contract position working onsite in Chicago, IL.

To be successful in this role you will be a problem solver; be able to think out of the box; collaborative; be comfortable selling your work to stakeholders.

Your Experience should include:

  • Multi-channel copywriting, copyediting and proofing talents.
  • Great communication skills, positive attitude, team-oriented mentality.
  • Good understanding of advertising with a strategic approach to the creative process.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, internal workflow, deadlines and client expectations.

Additional skill set:

  • Be comfortable writing both a clever headline as well as longer copy.
  • Understand tone and be able to quickly adapt your writing style.
  • You understand the importance of strategy and use it to create eye grabbing work.
  • You understand the benefits of process and you use it to your advantage.

Basic Qualifications

  • Expert in written marketing communications – long and short form.
  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in advertising, journalism or similar discipline; or military.

Experience

  • Be detail oriented and making sure to check for product, consistency, brand standards adherence, spelling, production concerns, other errors.
  • Manages his/her own time effectively and autonomously.
  • Can work with little regular oversight from Creative Director.
  • Flags concerns in a timely manner and brings solutions to the table.
  • 2 years of experience working in an advertising agency, or 4 years of experience working with a corporate in-house creative team.
