Onward Search is seeking a Video Editor / Producer to help the team of our city government client. Their needs are project based only so this is not a full-time position.
Working in the organization's Marketing Services department, you will support and engage residents by helping to create PSAs, promos, and assist in coverage of City Council meetings. You will also contribute to their monthly news magazine program, and help shape new program offerings.
Responsibilities:
- Produce, shoot, and edit engaging topical and historical city stories that are engaging and of interest to residents; stories should have multiple interviews, scene changes, and strong knowledge of subject matter
- Collaborate with the Creative Services Manager and Producers to develop this content for broadcast, web, and social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok), tailoring content to targeted audiences
- Craft narratives showcasing all of the city's unique neighborhoods, resident perspectives, and valuable city service
- Assist in various productions, ensuring top-quality results for City Council meetings, press conferences, and field productions
- Stay updated on evolving video, audio, web, and digital mediums to optimize user experiences and creative standards
- Create, produce, and manage fresh content and graphics for websites and social media platforms
- Write, research, fact check and produce supporting content
- Transcribe interviews and scriptwriting as needed
- Assist in studio operations including camera setup, lighting design, teleprompter operation, and directing interview subjects
- Contribute to control room operations including Chyron, audio mixing, and technical direction
- Prepare products for internal websites, including creating video and graphic elements and encoding / compressing files
- Research and propose improvements to enhance content value, message, and cost-effectiveness
- Select and hire additional crew members and talent when needed; direct, coach and train residents to capture their own stories; make transportation arrangements for crew, talent and equipment
- Spec, purchase, reserve and rent relevant production equipment
- Capture / import media, organize raw media, edit footage and audio files, create and insert static and motion graphics, titling, add music/voice-over
- Manage media library and archives
Musts:
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience planning, producing, and coordinating television documentary, magazine, or news shows and stories from concept to completion
- Proficiency in planning and executing video shoots, scouting locations, and developing production schedules
- Strong videography and photography skills, including lighting techniques and efficient video & audio editing skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Final Cut Pro, with knowledge of color correction techniques
- Experience in marketing-related content creation and web/social media content management
- Ability to budget, allocate resources, set and meet deadlines, and select optimal media forms
- Knowledge of technical standards and requirements to support content across all platforms
- Attention to detail and solid news and editorial judgment
- Passion for public engagement and continuous improvement in production skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
- Broadcast control room experience (Directing, Technical Directing, Chyron, Audio) a plus
- Previous on-camera, voiceover & hosting experience a plus
