Onward Search is looking for a freelance Digital Creative Director to join our agency client for a project-based contract role!

PLEASE NOTE: While the work can be completed remotely, top preference will be given to candidates within driving distance of San Antonio, TX or Dallas, TX. Candidates near Greensboro, NC and New York, NY will also receive preference.

Project Scope:

  • The work can be completed remotely.
  • This is a W2 contract role and 40hrs/week are expected.
  • Start date is expected to be 01/07/19 and the project will run for 4-6 months.

Project Description:

  • This is a web design revamp for the client.
  • The client is in the insurance industry.
  • B2B experience is strongly preferred.

Important Points:

  • You MUST have a deep knowledge of digital and web design perspective.
  • You will be leading a few creatives remotely.
  • You must have led visual and UX facets of complex enterprise website designs and redesigns.
  • B2B experience preferred.
  • You are first and foremost a brilliant creative with a strong portfolio. You don't have to have had a CD title previously but you MUST have experience leading, designing, and concepting for large, enterprise-level website redesigns.
  • You must have strong communication skills and the ability to lead and collaborate with remote colleagues and teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide the creative vision and direction for the execution and production of creative work across all platforms and channels – print, digital (mobile-first) and social.
  • Partner with functional peers including account, strategy, analytics and project management
  • Confidently share and defend the work.
  • Articulate how the creative team can uniquely address strategic insights to help meet business objectives.
  • Ensure creative integrity and excellence in every asset we produce.
  • Manage assigned projects from the creative perspective – the vision, the direction and the day-to-day production.
  • Manage the creative project team and delegate work appropriately.
  • Mentor and develop the creative team, their skills and their career paths.
  • Lead ideation and brainstorming sessions.
  • Serve as lead creative in client meetings and presentations.
  • Advocate for proper scheduling, time, tools, resources and processes for creating the work.
  • Review new and existing SOW’s for staffing and allocation; work with account team to ensure all work is properly staffed for completion.
  • Collaborate and share ideas/best practices with Creative Directors across the organization.
  • Serves as proxy when needed for Group Creative Director or Executive Creative Director, sitting in on cross-functional and client meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design a similar field.
  • 9+ years of professional experience in digital-focused design leadership roles.
  • Agency experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience managing and overseeing the design of large-scale, enterprise-level websites required.
  • Prior experience working with insurance or finance clients in a B2B capacity preferred.
  • A clean, modern portfolio showcasing experience leading enterprise-level, large-scale web design and UX projects.
  • Collaborative; ability to bring teams together.
  • Conceptual thinking as well as hands-on content creation.
  • Experience leading a creative team is a must; experience leading remote teams preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Able to present “The Strategic Why” behind the creative and articulate the solve.
  • Experience working across all platforms and channels – digital, mobile. social, and print.
  • Expert-level proficiency in relevant design tools including Sketch, Invision, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, PowerPoint, or similar tools.
