Onward Search is looking for a Digital Designer to join our prominent client in Memphis, Tennessee for a long-term 40hr/week onsite contract opportunity! Benefits are available throughout the length of the engagement.

PLEASE NOTE: This position sits onsite in Memphis, Tennessee, but candidates from outside of that market who are willing to relocate to Memphis are encouraged to apply. However, please also note that this is a contract role and relocation assistance will not be provided.

Job Summary:

  • You will serve as a member of the User Experience team and be responsible for the planning, conceptual development, and creation of the digital design in support of interactive experiences.
  • You are first and foremost a visual designer, but you understand the principles of user experience design and customer journeys and can design to those specifications.
  • You thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.
  • You will provide design support on all web-based and digital marketing efforts, including websites, the design of new pages for specific departments and programs, and ongoing updates of these pages.
  • You will provide design support in the creation of web pages and web-based collateral, email, social media, and other digital products.
  • You will provide design support for the improvement and evolution of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) templates, interfaces.
  • You will maintain consistent brand standards, style, and user message across all initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops AEM templates and components that adhere to branding constraints and maintain a unified, consistent image.
  • Participate in brainstorming meetings to the concept and strategize on new experience design initiatives.
  • Partner with other members of the User Experience and Digital Engineering teams to design, build and maintain interactive digital and web-based design assets and solutions including banner ads, landing pages, social assets, and digital paid/placed placements.
  • Ensure all graphics produced are web-safe, HTML-friendly, and optimized.
  • Provide designs that can be effectively HTML-coded by Web Development Team. A familiarity with browser differences and formatting issues, specifically using HTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is preferred.
  • Work with QA teams and outside vendors to solve display and formatting issues, resolving any page design or user interface inconsistencies that may arise.


  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, user experience design, or a similar field.
  • 2-6 years of professional work experience in digital-focused visual/graphic design, or web design, preferably within a large corporate environment.
  • Deep understanding of graphic and asset design for the web and digital channels including graphic optimization, page building, and designing and building fully functional web prototypes.
  • Expert ability using Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop. After Effects, Adobe XM, and similar programs a plus.
  • Prior experience designing within and for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) design/coding and issues related to browser differences.
  • Familiarity with development languages including HTML, CSS, and Javascript. This is NOT a development role, but an understanding of the strengths and capabilities of each language is helpful.
  • Experience working on an enterprise Agile scrum team preferred.
  • Working familiarity with mockup and prototyping tools such as Sketch, InVision, Visio, OmniGraffle, Balsamiq, and Axure preferred but not required.
  • You must be able to take direction and successfully manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Highly collaborative with excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • A clean, modern portfolio of web and digital design work is REQUIRED and should be submitted at time of application.
