Onward Search is recruiting for a Director of Public Relations for our Multicultural Ad Agency client that focuses in the social media space. This is a Full-Time position that we are looking to fill by the beginning of August.

You will report to the VP of PR and be responsible for managing and scaling a PR team, managing internal processes, and taking the lead on the high-level management of larger accounts on the team. This is a management position vs. a hands-on executional role, and we are seeking leaders who can shape the vision and team performance of the group.


  • Leadership and management skills within a PR environment.
  • Senior experience within a PR agency or in-house position.
  • Business development abilities with a track record of success.
  • Strong negotiation and delegation skills.
  • Work with VP on budgets and team resources.
  • Experienced at winning new clients, developing new business pitches and pitching prospective clients.
  • Business acumen with the ability to communicate across departments and represent PR at a senior level
  • Create and execute strategic PR campaigns targeting multicultural audiences.
  • Understand how Social and Influencers work within multi-faceted campaigns.
  • Work directly with clients and executive staff.
  • Work closely with the social media and marketing teams to develop and execute a campaign strategy.
  • Secure media results for clients on a daily basis.
  • Proven track record of traditional and social publicity results on behalf of clients.
  • Identify social and media influencers to use on behalf of clients.
  • Ability to lead team and client initiatives and identify potential issues and troubleshoot.
  • Work with VP and executive staff on identifying new business opportunities for the Agency.
  • Secure media and conference/speaking opportunities for the Agency as part of the Corporate Communications initiative.
  • Management of PR Manager, Publicists, and Coordinators.


  • Minimum 7-10 years progressive Public Relations experience.
  • Must be passionate and knowledgeable about trends in the multicultural lifestyle, social publicity, influencer and digital space.
  • Must have a proven track record of managing high-profile accounts in the PR, multicultural, entertainment/ music space.
  • Must be a leader, able to manage and scale teams, resources, etc.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and the ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has strong top-tier media relationship and ability to build positive and engaging relationships with media (print, broadcast, online, blogs, consumer, mainstream, culture, multicultural and trade press).
  • Client Focused.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of current trends, lifestyle brands, digital and industry influencers to incorporate into media strategies.
  • Social media savvy with an understanding of emerging platforms and technology.
  • Forward thinker, who is continuously looking for new ways to promote and enhance client campaigns.
