Law Firm in Boston is seeking a Drupal Developer to join them as a Contract-to-PERM hire engagement.

The Applications Developer is responsible for the continued enhancement, bug fixing and maintenance of the firm’s Drupal web sites. This role will also hold responsibilities with the research and implementation of new software solutions, and services to support the firm’s websites. The Applications Developer reports to the IT Manager – Applications Support, and is the primary resource to fulfill the firm’s frontend and backend Drupal development needs.


  • Responsible for all development tasks related to the firm’s Drupal websites: from frontend theme development to backend PHP server side development
  • Ensures high-performance and availability, and manages all technical aspects of the firm’s custom Drupal CMS
  • Will develop, test and deploy all Drupal web site fixes and enhancements. Establishes and guides the web site’s architecture
  • Works closely with Marketing and IT to build from the ground up and implement web site design changes. Support and build custom Drupal modules
  • Expand overall website functionality following the requirements set by firm stakeholders
  • Resolve bugs and address Drupal web site issues
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for supporting the firm’s Acquia account including Acquia Lift, and Acquia Edge
  • Maintain firm’s web site Drupal codebases and data synchronization jobs
  • Responsible for upgrading Drupal CMS and all supporting modules to ensure Drupal CMS remains secure, and benefits from the latest features. Apply Drupal security updates as needed
  • Direct interaction with stakeholders to collect requirements around web site changes and enhancements
  • Directly responsible for the development, testing and deployment of all Drupal web site fixes, and enhancements
  • Communicate and provide guidance and support to others in the Information Technology department and across the firm on how to use new web solutions or web site enhancements
  • Own and resolve issues escalated by the HelpDesk related to the firm’s public facing web sites
  • Provide technical support to the firm and its users to maximize firm productivity
  • Maintain IT documentation and track development work to assist with stakeholder sign-off, support development related discussions and for future reference purposes

Additional Responsibilities:


  • Specialized user training, and documentation
  • Data synchronizations across multiple systems
  • Own, track, and communicate software maintenance and license costs to management for budgeting purposes
  • Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the IT department

Technical Qualifications:

  • Drupal 8 (General Drupal knowledge is not sufficient, must be specific to Drupal 8), and Drupal 9.x
  • PHP & Twig template engine experience
  • Extensive Drupal site-building experience including the following:
  • Configuration management
  • Custom template overrides
  • Views, Contexts, Panels
  • Develop Drupal custom modules
  • Custom theme development/Theming (Twig)
  • Custom module development (ability to review 3rd party platforms/tools). Developing using GIT workflows, version control processes
  • Experience building user interfaces and working with UI/UX teams
  • Skilled in OOP (Object Oriented Programming)
  • Fluent in PHP, JavaScript, Jscript, HTML5/XHTML and CSS
  • Experience with Acquia Cloud, specifically Acquia Lift and Edge
  • Experience working with REST & SOAP web services and APIs
  • Strong understanding of the entire web development process including design, development and deployment, as well as back-end knowledge


  • Experience deploying code and build artifacts to multiple environments using CI tools
  • Docker experience. Docker based local environments
  • Experiencing managing projects using Agile method, Jira knowledge preferred
  • Acquia certified in Drupal 8
  • Experience working in Acquia Cloud
  • Experience developing web site frontends
  • Additional experience with the following scripting and programming languages: T-SQL; Python, Ruby; VB .Net; C#; Powershell; XML; and XSL
  • Strong knowledge of client/server & database application environments
  • Strong familiarity working with Microsoft SQL Server stored procedures, and relational database structures
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft PC and server software and related technologies. This includes but it is not limited to packaging and deploying software in an enterprise environment using SSCM
  • Also, strong knowledge of Office 2016 & 2019, Office 365 and related services, and Windows 10 OS, SharePoint on premise and SharePoint Online, and virtual machine technologies


  • 7+ years of experience supporting users in a professional services environment are required
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects on a daily basis, and adjust to shifting priorities
  • Strong planning, project management and organizational skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and a high-energy level
  • Facility analyzing, working with and presenting data
  • Ability to collaborate and gain the respect, trust, and confidence of the Firm’s attorneys and professional staff
  • Possess a “hands-on” tactical approach
  • Creative and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Facilitate teamwork and identify opportunities to develop new processes/infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp and implement new concepts quickly
  • Strong analytical abilities, resourcefulness, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and positive style that fosters collaborative working relationships
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical
