Our Client, a Top Financial Agency, seeks an Editorial Assistant for a month assignment with the possibility to extend. The Editorial Assistant is a key member of the Marketing Communications team. The primary focus of the Editorial Assistant is to provide data updates and markups on a variety of documents, which will require pulling data from some systems and sources. The Editorial Assistant will work to clean-up transcripts based on input from copy writers or other business partners. Additionally, the Editorial Assistant will collaborate with various internal groups to manage projects and ensure all tasks are scheduled and completed on time.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Works with writers and other business partners to clean up and prepare transcripts for publishing. Ensures changes to text do not affect the overall message.
  • Copyedits proofreads and fact-checks materials. Copyedits and proofreads print and electronic materials for clarity, grammar, accuracy, consistency, style and tone, and disclosure requirements. Verifies statistics and facts against internal and external sources. Recommends copy-edits based on knowledge of target audience and internal and external style guides.
  • Compiles circulation comments from legal, business, marketing, and creative associates onto a master document.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment when resolving matters of moderate complexity
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills; strong grammar and syntax skills
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar and style guides and ability to apply it to work assignments; follows Chicago and AP styles
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a team environment and across broad, diverse groups; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates strong production coordination skills, including following production schedules, tracking deliverables, problem solving and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail; demonstrates ability to multitask and stay organized, effectively manage an unpredictable workload, and meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of financial and investment concepts and the ability to apply that knowledge to work assignments
  • Requires at least 3-5 years of copyediting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g. Financial, pharmaceutical, or medical environment) is strongly preferred.
