Onward Search is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and experienced operational leader to join their team in Q1 2017. This position, based out of Central America and Miami, reporting directly to the CRO. Client will pay relocation to Central America or 50% travel.

The director will be responsible for managing and developing the team that delivers holistic SEM campaigns, consisting of over 100 paid search, SEO & Web specialists who collectively oversee over 40 million dollars in managed ad spend for our 1,700 SMB clients via channels such as Google AdWords and Bing Ads.

The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of and commitment to engineering and executing cost-effective, high-performing marketing campaigns that drive satisfactory outcomes for SMB portfolio. A scalable framework of providing timely and detailed reports along with an ability to work seamlessly with our service teams is an absolute requisite for the success of the position. With a client service mindset driven to provide a world-class customer experience at scale, the candidate must be proactive and value communication plus interpersonal skills as the keys to success.

An additional requirement for the position is a proven track record with leading large teams, developing processes, and a passion for continued learning.

Furthermore, the director must be a tenured player within the paid search arena along with other forms of digital advertising to ensure that the reputation of delivering ROI-driven paid search campaigns remains intact.

Director of Digital Operations & Product Solutions

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead a team consisting of 70 PPC Strategic Specialists, 7 Supervisors, 3 Tracking specialists, 3 Directors and 20 product/development/learning specialists, quickly growing toward a total of 150 by Q4 2017 with 7 direct reports
  • Ensure that the department meets main KPI’s and growth targets consistently: Churn, ARPA, SSG increase, cross sales, referrals, and employee efficiency.
  • Mentor, manage, and train additional SEM professionals and middle managers (i.e., take the lead on succession planning and build a replicable talent development framework).
  • Identify and understand trends within the search marketing avenue in order to react proactively and support the innovation of WSM’s product offerings.
  • Analyze portfolio budgets and budget pacing to identify strengths and weaknesses, ensuring proper financial allocation toward best opportunities.
  • Facilitate training, support, collateral, experiments, and insights that empower our team to secure a continuously improving CSAT experience.
  • Participate in QBRs with our main partners, Google and Microsoft.

  • Five or more years of experience with Search Engine Marketing.
  • Deep understanding of the US SMB market along with the digital marketing ecosystem that caters to this audience.
  • Five or more years of experience in managing large service and/or digital product fulfillment teams.
  • Experience with SEM automation platforms like Kenshoo, Acquisio, MatchCraft, etc.
  • Fully certified in Google AdWords, Analytics, Bing Ads, and other relevant SEM tools.
  • Savvy enough within WordPress and SEO to be considered dangerous and having the ability to create holistic value-adding digital solutions to accommodate our paid search solutions.
  • Embrace and foster a culture of embracing new marketing channels and technologies; always with a client-centric approach in mind.
  • Proven leadership building sustainable, disciplined, and process-oriented client services and/or campaign operations teams.
  • Ability to embrace sales efforts and challenges, creating positive synergies toward enhanced cross departmental collaboration.
  • Forecasting and ability to define and monitor critical capacity indicators.
  • Experience working at a startup company, welcoming hyper-growth and the required more structured approach that comes with the corporatization of such an organization.
  • Understand how technology/programming works and the willingness to embrace systems and tools.

  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
