Onward Search is looking for a Director of Creative Services to join our large corporate client in the Perimeter area of Atlanta for a contract-to-hire/direct hire opportunity!

Job Summary:

  • The Director of Creative Services will be responsible for driving the creative idealization, copy and content development and execution of all creative, inclusive but not limited to, print collateral, catalogs, event marketing, email, digital and web
  • The ideal candidate is a proven team leader that partners with internal clients, leadership and cross functional teams to deliver results
  • A natural story teller – both written and verbal – this person should be able to translate complex information into digestible and impactful communications

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Directs a team of print and digital designers, print production artists, developers, copywriters, content editors and outside agencies to deliver cutting edge creative while maintaining consistently high standards
  • Serve as creative leader to the creative process; ensure that the creative execution supports the creative brief, brand and business strategy
  • Directs and manages the internal creative, copy and content teams to ensure delivery of industry leading, brand-right materials that positively impact overall business goals
  • Delivers innovative, strategic communication solutions that support objectives and emotionally connect with the client in order to drive sales and encourage relationship/purchase
  • Maintains brand standards and a consistent content strategy, verbal voice and creative visual approach throughout all touch points within print collateral, catalogs, event marketing, email, digital, web and packaging
  • Establish processes for creative development ensuring both fast turnaround and quality
  • Develops and leads a strategic decision-making process for all print and digital creative, copy and content outputs
  • Establishes, develops and maintains creative, conceptual and language standards as well as design parameters consistent with our style guide from corporate
  • Ensures creative team environment, culture, team, capabilities, tools, processes, expectations and work styles support strategic goals of the company
  • Ensures quality control and operational efficiencies including proofing, reviewing and evaluating staff creative output and processes
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to prioritize and maximize resources
  • Stay apprised of technology, layout principles and esthetic design concepts for all types of media
  • Manage department budget to ensure maximum return on investment
  • This position requires up to 15% travel, some of which may be international

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years related experience in leading the creative vision, concept, design and communication of a brand and/or creative department
  • Seasoned manager with 3+ direct reports (experience in recruitment, hiring and performance management)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Exceptional project management experience
  • Experience in creative budget management and agency/vendor relationships
  • Experience in highly-regulated industry or healthcare environment a plus
  • Experience working across cultures and internationally in a matrixed, global organization
  • Proven track record of directing both on and off-line creative development, design and execution
  • Demonstrated ability to direct one voice and branding strategy across multiple tactics through the entire creative team’s output
  • Experience leading a creative and technical writing team; supporting content strategy creation
  • Strong understanding of advertising and marketing principles, strategies, tactics, technologies and production as it relates to creative strategy, design and execution
  • Excellent organizational and supervisory skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to promote and sell agency services
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; strong presentation skills and ability to respond well to critical feedback
  • Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively under pressure and balance speed and quality
  • Proven talent for high caliber creative idealization, content strategy and marketing writing


  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
