Our Detroit client is an accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. They are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Graphic Designer.


The Graphic Designer will create collateral for marketing, advertising, and communications including printed materials, digital collateral, website, logos and presentations. In addition to hands-on graphic design projects, you will assist in art direction when working with design services partners, helps to develop and implement brand standards, and manages photography and video needs across programs.


Assists in the development of print and digital marketing, advertising, and other communications that support programs across the School’s initiatives.

  • Designs printed materials and digital collateral for the School, including recruitment/program brochures, advertisements, invitations, event programs, and posters
  • Under the guidance of the department’s director, establishes and maintains brand standards across programs while advancing the School’s visual identity
  • Actively participates in the development and execution of strategy and tactics for new initiatives
  • Manages administrative tasks for select projects, including requesting estimates from vendors, circulating materials for review, and proofing
  • Serves as the design liaison when working with outside design services partners on projects
  • Provides art direction for projects designed by design services partners, including ensuring that the School’s brand and identity standards are adhered to
  • Facilitates the feedback and critique process, circulating materials for review among internal stakeholders and providing constructive feedback to design services partners.
  • Proofs materials
  • Assists in the coordination of photography and video shoots
  • Schedules vendors to handle photography and video projects and provides them design direction
  • Archives photos and videos, and edits/distributes files with partners as needed for projects
  • Provides creative support for the School’s website and microsites
  • Edits and updates images on the websites.
  • Develops digital collateral for use on the website, including infographics.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years progressive experience as a Graphic Designer. Proficient with Macintosh computers and operating systems; industry-standard graphic design software to include: Adobe Creative Suite programs, MS Word and social media best practices.

Skill with graphics and digital production methods from concept to a finished product. Ability to provide customer service, work independently and in a team environment; to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients both orally and in writing. Ability to coordinate graphic design projects; to understand and to interpret information in a visual manner; to operate computer graphic systems and software.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or Art preferred. Experience using online marketing platforms (such as Constant Contact) is a plus, Microsoft Excel, video editing software (Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro) is helpful, Illustrator preferred. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, proofreading, document formatting and editing is mandatory.



  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
