Onward Search is looking for an Industrial Designer/ Creative Technologist for one of our Financial Clients sitting in NYC. This person will be joining the Design Team, which is a team of hyper-creative designers and engineers working to figure out what the future of banking machines should be in the next 5-10 years. Our client is trying to look beyond the ATM that we all know, and essentially build the physical future of a digital-first bank. This person should have more material than digital design background and comfortable with building prototypes. They will be honing in on how interactivity happens.


  • Degree or relevant experience in Industrial / Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.
  • 3-5 years delivering exceptional customer experience rooted in physical design.
  • Coherent, fluid sketching skills, and the ability to quickly realize a breadth of new concepts.
  • Develop formal details to create beautiful, branded products.
  • Ability to build models and prototypes in a variety of media to quickly validate ideas.
  • CAD modeling for concept and prototype development — Rhino, Solidworks, or Fusion 360 preferred.
  • Communicate the overall concept as well as small details to engineering and development teams, as well as external stakeholders.
  • Must be comfortable with travel up 20-30%, (4-6 days a month).

  • Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or other Physical Computing.
  • 3D Printing.
  • CNC Machining.
  • Laser Cutting.
  • Design for Manufacturing.
  • Technical Drawing.
