Onward Search is looking for a talented Jr. Digital Designer to join our prominent agency client in Charlotte for an onsite contract-to-hire opportunity!

Duties:

  • Our Digital Designers are talented, driven professionals with a passion for creating beautiful, effective work.
  • We operate in a collaborative environment, and our designers work with other disciplines on a daily basis, from copywriting to analytics to client services, all while maintaining high standards for design and execution.
  • An understanding of interactive design is expected for this role.
  • Your job is to create great design concepts and assets that achieve our clients’ goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the overall direction and vision of projects, making positive contributions in a tightly knit, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Articulate ideas and communicate proactively with the Digital Creative Director to determine visual design, messaging strategy, and conceptual direction
  • Assist with the creation of visual design prototypes, mood boards, wireframes, site maps, emails, banner ads, icons and production assets
  • Work under Sr. Digital Designers to solve an array of visual and interactive problems
  • Create and contribute to design comps and identify how to extend a brand’s visual language to any given project or platform
  • Develop strong relationships across the agency
  • Demonstrate a passion for always doing the best work
  • Represent the team and the agency in a positive manner in all endeavors
  • Respect all equally - internally and externally
  • Passionately uphold the agency brand, culture and values
  • Work closely with strategists and developers to ensure design follows best practices, and is executable from a development and budgetary standpoint.
  • Proactively work with account leads to become knowledgeable about brand, client expectations, and project goals
  • Ensure work always meets timing, budget, and exceeds quality expectation
  • Stay current on digital design trends, best practices, and emerging technologies
  • Produce all necessary design elements, assets, templates, graphics, etc., based on established design direction, systems and style guide

Qualifications Wanted:

  • BFA in graphic design, interactive design or user-experience design
  • 1-3 years of digital, UI, or UX design experience, preferably in an agency environment
  • Strong conceptual thinking - both visual and interactive
  • Understanding of user experience design, information architecture and usability principles
  • Understanding of graphic design principles (typography, color, layout, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Sketch, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and capabilities of browsers and design constraints for the Web. Our designers don’t code, but a basic understanding of development best practices and limitations is required.
  • Knowledge of responsive web design
  • Familiarity with grids and grid theory
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a passion for creating groundbreaking work
  • A positive attitude and willingness to improve your craft
  • Ability to take constructive criticism with ease and grace
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • A desire to embrace challenges and new methods of thinking
  • Relentless spirit and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. This is not a 9 to 5 job, and we take great pride in our work.
  • Knowledge in motion design, branding, illustration or front-end development would be great
  • Experience and knowledge of prototyping tools, such as InvisionApp, Principle and Framer would also be fantastic
