Fast growing Pasadena client of Onward Search is currently hiring a Demand Generation Specialist to join our growing marketing team. In this position, candidate will be partnering with business development, marketing, and sales, and will be responsible for nurturing and qualifying inbound and outbound sales leads through a variety of programs, digital tools, content creation. This role will be fostering new opportunities for growth. The Demand Generation Specialist will ensure that a consistent pipeline of new, qualified opportunities is developed for our sales teams.  The DGS's success is measured by the volume of qualified marketing leads generated. The perfect candidate is a take-charge person who wants to own this role and build this part of the business.


  • Assist in a wide variety of writing projects, including brand messaging, ad copy, case studies, and editorial/blog content to expand our company’s digital footprint, awareness, subscribers, and leads
  • Create and grow external broadcast channel partner relationships to substantially grow top of funnel marketing leads
  • Own the development of buyer personas through research, analysis, and client conversations
  • Interview employees, clients, and industry experts and be able to create well-written and engaging content
  • Respond to inbound marketing inquiries that are received from various sources such as social media, search engine optimization & marketing, digital advertising, trade show attendance, sponsorship, etc.
  • Manage inquiries, track events and marketing activity, forecast opportunities, conduct competitive research and keep current on product development and emerging technologies
  • Grow marketing-qualified leads (MQLs) through well thought out conversion techniques, calls-to-action, landing pages, and lead generation content (including offers)
  • Optimize our marketing automation and lead nurturing processes through email, content, and social channels
  • Establish closed-loop analytics with sales to understand how our inbound marketing activity turns into customers, and continually refine our process to convert MQLs into sales qualified leads (SQLs)
  • Create and maintain new outbound prospect lists for individual account executives, marketing specialists and others to ensure accuracy of company records
  • Educate and qualify selling opportunities by understanding prospects’ current and potential goals to determine the most relevant Expedient services and solutions
  • Meet and exceed expectations and lead generation goals


  • Excellent writing, editing, documentation (Atlassian Confluence) and proofing skills with ability to produce own materials (blog posts, whitepapers, research materials, etc.) including rules of composition and grammar, spelling, and punctuation as well as more “punchy” direct response or sales-oriented communications
  • Demonstrated experience developing persona-focused content for a wide variety of channels and mediums (web, blogs, email, social, video, etc.)
  • Success in developing and implementing consistent and effective brand materials across all internal and external communications
  • Detailed knowledge of inbound marketing approaches, tactics, and processes, 2 years of HubSpot experience 
  • Strong project management (Atlassian Jira), time management, and organizational capabilities with the ability to manage numerous competing priorities are required
  • Self-directed, independent, strategic learner who also appreciates collaboration
  • Strategic thinking skills and a positive, can-do attitude are central to the role
  • Bachelors or associates degree required
  • Prior experience in a selling or support capacity preferred
  • A technical aptitude and interest in information technology and software as a service (SaaS)
  • Self-motivation, competitiveness, objection handling, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing
  • Ability to quickly learn and master customer relationship management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce.com
  • Ability to translate prospect need(s) and influence their decision-making
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills as well as the ability to analyze data and apply it to potential lead generation opportunities
  • Social media savvy (e.g., Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook)
  • Must have public sector experience either directly or have a client who was public sector


  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
