Onward Search is looking for a Lead-level UX Designer to join our prominent corporate client in Columbus, Ohio, for an onsite direct hire opportunity!
PLEASE NOTE: While this position is located onsite in Columbus, candidates from outside of that market are encouraged to apply. A generous relocation package is available. Remote candidates will NOT be considered.
This position is a top-level contributor focused on user experience design and architecture across UX design, architecture, research, and strategy.
You will create engaging, effective, and innovative user interfaces, digital assets, and visual designs in support of both enterprise and customer-facing tools, products, applications, and experiences.
You will help lead the team through the design process, translating key user insights and team brainstorms into actual “things” that could be created to meet those needs. You will create low fidelity conceptual representations (sketched or produced) of those ideas.
You will partner with researchers to help take that idea into testing with real users, iterating to medium to higher fidelity concepts as more is learned…with many launching into the market.
You may specialize in one or multiple design roles such as interaction design, information architecture, content, user experience strategy or other specialization as the function grows.
This is a digital role and experience and portfolio work should be primarily if not exclusively in the digital and UX space and should include specific examples of your early ideation/concept work.
Provide top-level consultation and serve as an SME concerning user experience design in support of the company's overall product goals and objectives. Deliver on the implementation of user experience project plans.
Identify opportunities for leveraging user experience design methodologies in pursuit of other key objectives including business goals and strategies.Provide expert consultation in identifying and executing strategic user experience design partnerships.
Supports the evaluation of success in meeting user experience goals of effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction.
May oversee a variety of collaborative relationships with business leaders, project leaders, vendors, etc. Provides consultation on service evaluations regarding a variety of outside consulting service vendors.
Acts as a source of user experience design expertise for direction, mentoring, and guidance for less experienced designers.
Acts as a source of expertise in one or more user experience design functions: interaction design, visual design, creative technology, user research, content, user experience strategy, etc.
Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that help drive towards intuitive user experiences.
Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to both core and new functions and features.
Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
Bachelor's Degree in business administration, marketing, human-computer interaction, psychology, graphic design, communications, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
7+ years of professional experience designing digital solutions for large or multi-national companies with a specific focus on UX, UI, and digital design. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complete digital environments and who have previously led UX teams.
Prior experience across UX design, strategy, research, and architecture is REQUIRED.
Advanced knowledge of specialized creative software programs including Adobe Creative Suite/XD, Sketch, Omnigraffle, Balsamiq, InVision, and similar tools.
Outstanding grammar and writing skills; very organized, detail-oriented, process-driven.
An ability to work both independently and collaboratively as well as interface with cross-functional teams, internal clients, and all levels of leadership.
Ability to work with stakeholders to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
Clear user experience design focus; familiarity with emerging technologies and the ability to integrate new technologies to user experience designs.
Strong project management skills; ability to perform well on multiple concurrent projects while working under tight timelines.
A portfolio showcasing DIGITAL design work with a specific focus on UX and interface design is required at the time of submission.
