Managing Director of Programs

Onward Search needs a full-time, direct hire Managing Director of Programs for a great opportunity to work with a non-profit client of ours that helps create solutions and opportunities for under-served and minority communities to help build ideas, projects, and areas for entrepreneurs to make a real and lasting impact.

This is a role that will focus first on the areas of Bentonville, AR or the Kansas City Metro, so it is very helpful if you live in one of those areas now. If you do not, you will be expected to travel to these areas as needed. The position reports directly to the CEO.

As a Managing Director of Programs, you’ll:
• Leverage your non profit work experiences and program development expertise to represent the vision and mobilize the interest of the organization
• Create data driven and informed programs in partnership with the corresponding teams in the minority business development and philanthropy sectors
• Design and implement a program strategy that leads towards impactful and measurable behavioral change across social impact areas, as well as thought leadership of minority-led civic and cause oriented programming
• Advise direct reports and liaise with cross functional teams to ensure program strategy, creative ideation and program delivery are aligned with the needs of our members and partners.
• Hire and develop a team of professionals to execute on all programming and broaden team goals and KPIs.
• Establish and evaluate systems to actively monitor program performance, develop interventions to ensure successful outcomes, and maximize efficiencies between internal stakeholders.
• Work across 4 areas specifically – Program Strategy, Geographic Programming, People Management, and Project Management


Managing Director of Programs Skills & Experience Needed:
• 6+ years of Program Management / Project Management, preferably in the non profit / caused-base space
• Relevant civic action, democracy, or business development expertise
• Community Engagement experience towards the development of a community partnership ecosystem with specific comfort doing public speaking and presentations.
• People management experience of at least one direct report
• Proven experience and success with project management similar to the needs above
• A sincere passion for the organization’s mission and vision
