Our client, a leading digital agency in the healthcare space, is looking to add a Managing Medical Editor to their team. The agency is completely remote. This is a permanent position looking to start right away.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop a knowledge of the brand and strategy for each of the products assigned.
  • Oversee the development of a training program for new hires.
  • Clearly interpret and communicate client and Medical and legal requests.
  • Establish training modules and lead training in rerouting best practices, permissions, and client submission processes.
  • Make sure workload is covered- including nights and weekends as appropriate.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while communicating with team members and keeping them updated with any significant timing, fact-check, or editorial issues.
  • Edit and fact-check copy according to the client, brand, and AMA style.
  • Review the work of direct reports and assist with changes when needed.
  • Confirm that proper training is completed by direct reports, and meet regularly with them to communicate progress.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with copywriters.
  • Attend assigned account status and kick-off meetings to represent editorial interests and negotiate on behalf of the department.
  • Update, maintain and share the Editorial Style Guide and Master Citation List with Copy and Account.
  • Fact-check all claims of each project for accuracy and ensure citations are styled correctly.
  • Support other editors when they have a heavy workload and participate in a rotating departmental nightly and weekend schedule.
  • Other tasks may apply.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in English or Journalism (or other related work experience).
  • 3-5 years experience in a pharma ad agency, medical communications, or publishing house.
  • Superior knowledge of AMA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the healthcare industry.
  • Excellent organizations skills and ability to handle deadline-driven projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
