Onward Search is hiring a Mid-level PR & Social Media Manager to join our client, a sports tv network, on a 3-4-month contract basis.
Lead publicity efforts for all properties, talents, executives and businesses across all platforms
Develop and execute public relations strategy for network including media relations, publicity, thought leadership, cross-promotions and alignment with internal departments
Generate publicity for sports programming in media via strategically pitched stories, executive/talent interviews, creatively written press releases and social media content
Acts as media strategist and campaign planner for sports shows, talent and executives
Manage PR and social media handles
Develop positive relationships with talent, producers, PR agencies and representatives, agents, managers, production staffs, media and programming executives to ensure maximum coverage
Generate all press materials including releases, bios, press releases, feature stories, talking points, story synopsis, pitch letters and correspondence
Work closely with talent to grow their social media footprint and cross promote across their social media handles
Identify and develop relationships with key trade and consumer sports influencers
Service daily media requests and act as network source of information on sports
Monitor competitive environment via daily review of competitive/industry news, and interface with other departments
B.S./B.A. Degree in journalism, corporate communications or PR
4-8 years of communications experience
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Strategic, energized thinker with a big picture mentality, able to align department to overall business goals
Proven ability to develop and effectively manage strong working relationships with executives and talent
Must be Bilingual and have strong writing skills in both English and Spanish
Expert in developing and managing social media campaigns
Must have knowledge of the sports media industry
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to handle multiple and varied projects at one time; organize, prioritize and follow-through
Flexible self-starter who is punctual and attentive to details
Candidate must possess excellent leadership and organizational skills and must demonstrate ability to motivate and lead a team
Must be a quick thinker and have ability to execute quickly
Pre-existing media and influencer contacts are a plus
Self-starter and able to work in an extremely fast paced and high-volume environment
Proven skills in launching shows, crisis management and interfacing with all levels of executives, talent and media
Flexible work schedule with some late nights and weekend work required to cover tapings, shoots and events and frequent travel
