Onward Search has an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer with our client, a nonprofit organization that focuses on improving quality health and social services through policy and technology solutions. As a Network Engineer, you will be supporting the daily operations of the network systems at the company’s office and datacenter locations. Regular support duties include; routine monitoring of network systems and network security systems, preforming adds/moves/changes based on new operating requirements, project-based planning and execution of network improvements and changes, maintenance actives such as upgrades and new equipment installation, network security hardening and testing, plus other activities as needed.

This is a contract to hire opportunity that kicks off ASAP.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot advanced issues with hardware, software and applications related to network issues often working directly with customers or other internal employees
  • Respond to tactical support escalations from development, helpdesk and other IT teams
  • Knowledge and experience managing enterprise network systems including; Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls and Intrusion detection systems, Cisco Ironport Web Security Appliance, Cisco/NetApp/VMWare flexpod environments, Cisco IOS and Nexus routers and switches, Cisco ISE/ACS Servers, etc.
  • Preforming daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing network, monitoring, system and application logs as needed
  • Review and discuss technical issues, assess and document recommended changes, SLA’s, processes and support improvement
  • Tactical management or and contribution to team projects, including prioritization and multi-task assignments
  • Ensure operating standards are developed, maintained and adhered to
  • Analyze, acquire, install, modify and support activities including system integration and monitoring
  • Identify opportunities for infrastructure and process improvements
  • Work with various teams to ensure system configurations are in compliance with corporate policies, security, and control standards

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working as a Network engineer or similar
  • Significant experience with Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls and Intrusion detection systems
  • Strong experience with Cisco Nexus and IOS operating systems
  • Experience with vendor based MPLS networks and BGP
  • Cisco UCS experience preferred
  • Some VMWare Virtualization experience preferred
  • Experience with NetApp Cluster on Tap integration FCOE and NFS protocols preferred
  • Experience in trouble shooting application, operating systems, and networking issues
  • Responsibilities include, if required, the ability to work evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice
