Medscape (, a division of WebMD (, develops and hosts physician portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for physicians and healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits and communicate with peers.

The need: An Account Manager with 3-4.5 years of Digital Campaign experience in an Advertising agency environment. The most ideal candidates come from a Pharma background, however, they are open to seeing non-pharma people.

The Account team is the client-facing arm of the organization. After a digital advertising deal is signed, this person works with the client externally and with the internal creative and development teams to set up and execute creative campaigns. This is a true hybrid account and project manager, so they are also open to people who come from a client-facing PM role.

The sell: While their titles may be a step behind that of agency people (e.g. an Account Manager at Medscape might be a Sr. AE at an agency), the pay should be relative. They have a much better work-life balance than agency people and weekend work isn’t a thing. Their internal “agency” still gives that desirable creative environment young talent is looking for.

IMPORTANT: If candidates have 5 or more years of experience, do not send. Given their need to be government compliant

Look for candidates from all of the well-known Pharma agencies like Greg Healthcare, Ogilvy, Publicis, Saatchi Health, etc.

Interview process (2-3 weeks):

  • 30-minute phone call with the manager
  • 2-hour interview on-site with 4 people (manager, VP of the group and a peer or two)

Our client, a leading online publication, is looking for an Account Manager with 3 years of Digital Advertising Campaign experience to join their team. This is a full-time role that begins as soon as possible on-site in NYC.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Build and manage multiple client relationships, ensuring that creative campaigns are delivered to the highest quality.
  • Oversee execution of all projects internally and externally including checks for quality, organizing internal reviews and leading client meetings/presentations.
  • Organize all client feedback and ensure requests are completed as required.
  • Support Senior Account Manager on selected projects as needed.
  • Provide support to the pre-sales team on project specifics including timeline, deliverables, and contract guidance.
  • Guide the internal team on delivery timelines and ensure clear communication of revenue statistics per campaign.
  • Escalate potential roadblocks to senior management before they occur.
  • Partner with the internal production services team to drive an efficient process.
  • Lead internal resource teams on weekly business sessions.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Digital Campaign experience in an Account Management or Project Management position.
  • The ideal candidate brings experience in Pharma advertising.
  • Must have a polished and professional client-facing demeanor.
  • Working knowledge of the creative advertising process and an understanding of the review and regulatory processes for Pharma.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various Project Management tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
