Our client, a leading utilities provider in the New York area is looking to hire a Java Architect for one of their most business critical teams. This role begins as soon as possible.

What you'll be doing:

  • Partner with the IT group to design and implement a range of services and tools that will support business units
  • Design, develop and pressure test programs based on the needs of the internal customer teams.
  • Produce high-quality user systems on time and budget
  • Continuously look to improve upon existing company programs
  • Compile and synthesize user issues and new program requirements from across the organization to ensure that products are delivering upon the business need
  • Support with reporting as needed
  • Always look to ramp up quickly and learn new processes and technologies as they are released.

About you:

  • Bachelors Degree in software engineering, computer science or a related field
  • Expertise with coding Core Java / J2EE development
  • Proficient with Spring and Caching frameworks
  • Working knowledge of RabbitMQ, Vertica, Aerospike, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL
  • Cloud (AWS or Azure) proficient
  • Understanding of CI/CD practices and DevOps toolsets (JIRA, GIT, Ant, Maven, etc.)
  • Agile development familiarity
  • SOA Service design experience with SOAP, REST, JMS including WSSecurity, WS-Policy, JAXB, MTOM
  • Experience with big data and streaming tech (e.g. Apache Kafka, Spark, etc.)
  • Experience designing complete systems as part of an integrated team
  • Work well through a rigorous process of testing, de-bugging, learning and iterating
  • Strong understanding of principles around object oriented design and programming
  • Hands-on experience with testing and release, profiling and code efficiency
  • Experience in continuous integration processes and automated delivery
  • Must have a driver's license for this role
