Our client a fintech focused platform is looking for a Product Designer/Manager to join their team on a contract to hire basis.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the product design practice by applying user-centered design methods to frame and deliver the experience of the products they offer. This person will serves as the steward for the end-user by championing lean UX practices in a fast-paced environment. Product Designer/Manager will collaborate with key stakeholders, developers, and end-users to define, design, ship and iterate products.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to create rapid iterations of design prototypes and validate them for usefulness and usability with users
  • Ability to manage expectations with senior leaders and project stakeholders to help shape, define and manage ongoing communication throughout the project life-cycle
  • Inform product teams and business areas based on metrics and user feedback to help them understand risks and make informed business decisions about products
  • Create just enough documentation to communicate designs and research results to stakeholders beyond the immediate team of developers and product managers. Able to stay away from overproduced deliverables and support collaborative in-person decisions
  • Help product managers assess and prioritize features, technical constraints, and timelines.
  • Be an advocate and evangelist of Lean UX practices
  • At times, create semantic and standards compliant front-end code when it is more efficient for the project than sketching it out

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in design, computer science, information sciences, psychology, human factors and or HCI preferred
  • Has expert level proficiency in Interaction Design/Information Architecture and at least one more UX discipline: User Research, Visual Design, or Front-end development
  • Has at least 5 years of experience designing full-service consumer or business applications
  • Solid understanding of the user-centred design process
  • Have experience working independently with clients or stakeholders and demonstrable experience of building successful business relationships
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit and not be afraid to stand up for what they believe is the right product based on user feedback
  • Experience using Lean UX methodologies on projects is required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are required. Have the ability to present and explain design decisions to team, users and stakeholders, at any level
  • Open to feedback and engages in active listening to improve the practice of product design
  • Have an interest in innovation and continually learn new technologies and design skills/methods within the digital space
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to run discovery sessions with various stakeholders using design thinking tools and methods is desired
  • Knowledge of tools like Invision App, Sketch, Zeplin, and animation tools like Framer/Pixate is desired
