National healthcare organization is seeking a Proofreading and Editor to help out in their print/web creative team by ensuring all materials meet the highest editorial and quality assurance standards. This role confirms the copy adheres to the corporate style, voice and is consistent with the brand. This is a 7 month assignment that could be extended. Onsite only.


  • Editing and proofreading copy for voice, brand as well as consistency, and accuracy.
  • Copyediting and proofreads all written material for grammar and usage.
  • Open to making recommendations for rewrites when needed.
  • Proof for quality assurance, annotations.
  • Effectively communicates with the teams they served verbally and written including easy to read marks.
  • Keeps the Editorial style guide up to date.
  • Some copywriting may be needed.
  • Learns company products and channel communications quickly as well as understanding the legal and compliance guidelines.
  • Understanding of sense of urgency for colleagues that use this service (design, account management, traffic, product, etc.).
  • Can review print and web/digital copy with ease.


  • BA, pref in English, Journalism, Communications or equivalent.
  • 3-5 yrs experience as a proofreader/copy editor in a communications dept or ad agency.
  • Exceptional editing, proofreading, organizing skills.
  • Attention to detail mandatory.
  • Work well under pressure and against deadlines.
  • English grammar and associated press style rules expert.
  • Use of Word (Track Changes), Acrobat (comment tools).
  • Solid understanding of the difference between proofing for print and web content.
  • Excellent communication skills a must.

  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
