Our client, a Fortune 50 global media company, is looking to hire a Principal User Experience Researcher to join the team for a 12-month contract + extension.


  • Lead member of a team to plan and implement new designs; optimize existing user interface designs; test for intuitivity and experience; communicate with clients to understand their business goals and objectives
  • Develop technical and business requirements and always strive to deliver intuitive and user-centered solutions
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Designing compelling and digestible deliverables focused on visually telling the story and highlighting important insights for longevity
  • Socializing, collaborating, and presenting research to multiple teams and leaders across the organization
    Collaborating to define best practice frameworks, research methodologies, and documentation surrounding research activities at each stage of the product life cycle, from prototyping through beta testing to market scale.
  • Identifying key research objectives in partnership with product, design, marketing, and engineering teams to address research needs for a variety of products and projects throughout the product life cycle.
  • Choosing the right research to do at the right time and synthesize results into a coherent and truthful story, as well as create effective models that reflect those results such as journey maps, process flows, and user segments.
  • Working on strategic need-state research to drive product innovation, while managing day-to-day usability and product testing.


  • 10-15 years of experience in full product lifecycle research mixed methodology (both qual and quant) and driving product/design decisions.
  • A Masters/PhD in HCI, Organizational Psychology, Cognitive Science or equivalent 10+ years of experience in applied product research
  • Working knowledge of how to drive product discovery and innovation through need-state research.
  • A healthy understanding of how to balance the fast-paced, flexible nature of research with the rigor and confidence levels present in more academic research
  • Deep experience running moderated usability labs, including expertise in task scenario best practices.
  • Expert knowledge of quantitative research metrics like NPS, as well as a practical understanding of sample size, confidence levels, and validity
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Experience synthesizing large-scale data in multi-method studies
