Our national healthcare client up in Pleasanton is seeking a DIGITAL ACCESSIBILITY SPECIALIST to oversee several digital properties. This role supports the Digital Experience Center by performing testing, develop training materials, and be hands on support to the developers and testers in the department. This is a year long contract position.


  • Experience with ADA testing and result reporting (includes keyboard testing and screen reader testing). Report on defects and provide solutions/resources
  • Create training resources and perform training for both business and technical audiences
  • Support developers and testers with regard to accessible websites and mobile apps
  • Ability to interpret and advise on standards, principles and techniques for meeting accessibility success criteria (including WCAG 2.0 AA and WAI-ARIA)
  • Detailed knowledge on WCAG 2.0 AA including limitations of the specific guidelines
  • Understanding the overlap between user experience and accessibility
  • Understanding standard controls vs. custom controls, and how WAI-ARIA best practices is used for custom controls
  • Experience/Expertise using shortcuts and keystrokes
  • Experience/Expertise with JAWS and NVDA for Windows, and VoiceOver for iOS
  • Experience setting-up and configuring test tools and assistive devices for testing, such as JAWS and NVDA
  • Understanding the strategies of persons with disabilities in using assistive technology for the Web and mobile apps
  • Ability to use automated and manual accessibility testing tools
  • Ability to recommend strategies and techniques for fixing accessibility defects


  • BA
  • Beneficial to have: Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) or Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
  • Experience with Accessibility Management Platform (AMP).
  • Experience with specification planning along with Program Managers, Designers, and Developers
  • Experience writing test plans
  • Able to work with little supervision on tight timelines and multiple priorities
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Able to cross-train and mentor others
  • Accurate, reliable and amazing attention to detail


  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
