Onward Search has an exciting opportunity for a User Research with a top educational app company located in San Francisco. The ideal candidate is motivated to solve communication challenges in education, and is passionate about the client’s vision of connecting every teacher, student, and parent in the world.

This is a part time, 4-6-month contract opportunity that kicks off towards the beginning of the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with cross-functional partners/leads to design and execute actionable qualitative and quantitative research studies that help inform the development of roadmaps, while also diagnosing opportunities and continued challenges
  • Think creatively about research questions and methods in order to answer them rigorously in a fast-paced environment
  • Plan and execute formative and evaluative research on admins, teachers, students, and parents
  • Inform product and process decisions through interviews, surveys, benchmark studies, and other sources of data
  • Drive ongoing survey data collection, both in-product and outside of product
  • Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research
  • Synthesize findings into actionable insights and storytelling in concert with cross-functional partners/leads

Requirements:

  • You have 5+ years relevant work experience integrating user research into product and design practices
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
  • You have a strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different qualitative research methods and experimental designs, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
  • Ability to work well with minimal direction
  • Expert in designing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative research
  • Knows how to integrate data from multiple sources to uncover new insights
  • You have experience working with fast-paced product/design teams
  • You have excellent survey design and analysis skills
  • You have experience incorporating quantitative and qualitative findings into actionable product and process recommendations
  • You have excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • You can communicate complex and often conflicting user needs from multiple user groups
  • Someone who enjoys working collaboratively, but can ultimately execute projects independently and confidently
  • The ideal candidate will be curious, creative, energetic, entrepreneurial, and passionate about not just sharing data, but telling a story through research
