Onward Search is looking for a Senior Director of User Experience to join our agency client in Atlanta for a permanent, direct hire opportunity!

Job Summary:

  • In this role, you will be responsible for providing world-class user experiences and UX strategies for digital products, taking extensive design knowledge and coupling it to business goals.
  • You will partner with a line of business (LOB) marketing, project management, product management and customers to lead the design of innovative, industry leading products.
  • You will lead design teams to drive the product design process from conceptualization, research, functional design, and user interface, through implementation and usability review.
  • You will be responsible for attracting, retaining, and developing top talent focused on designing intuitive, quality products through collaboration with end users and modern software development teams.
  • You will work closely with teams of designers to support in-depth business reviews, communicate and present across all levels of the organization, and support cross-functional product teams.
  • You will champion data-informed, user-centered design where the goals of the user and the business are brought together to form seamless solutions.
  • You will lead design from concept to final execution, producing initial research, sketches, wireframes, visual designs, prototypes, and performance data following launch.

  • You have experience managing teams of 5 of more and are comfortable leading teams across geographically diverse locations.
  • You are a visionary and a strategist with an exceptional ability to guide, mentor, and drive UX teams in the development of impactful, engaging experiences that resonate with the target audience.
  • You are very serving as a key member of the leadership team for a large organizations.
  • You are comfortable meeting with clients and thrive on building those relationships.

Who You Are NOT:

  • A Creative Director or Art Director who also happens to do UX design.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Effectively lead design efforts and manage junior team members
  • Compellingly communicate your ideas to a wide variety of key stakeholders
  • Function as a bridge across disciplines, such as Design, Product, Engineering, and Marketing, and across time zones
  • Own various web and mobile application interfaces
  • Generate detailed specs of final designs that allow devs to build accurately
  • Work with devs and QE to deliver polished final product
  • Evangelize new interface guidelines and design patterns
  • Mentor junior members of the design team
  • Work closely with Executive Creative Director and Creative teams

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience designing and delivering products in cross-functional teams from start to finish for enterprise level clients
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices - and you're always looking to improve on your process
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, agile environment
  • Power to influence others and build consensus, while dealing with ambiguity
  • You can produce results independently as well as collaboratively in a team
  • Self-motivated, a good communicator, and able to balance great design with meeting short deadlines
  • Experience using analytics, user research and other approaches to help make decisions and iterate on the product
  • A deep appreciation and talent for simple solutions to complex problems
  • Expert knowledge of design tools such as Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision
  • Required: Experience managing teams of other designers
  • Required: Ability to travel as needed
  • Experience working in and evolving design systems
  • Ability to lead and conduct on-site client stakeholder interviews
  • Ability to lead and conduct client driven workshops around customer journey mapping and persona development.
  • Understanding of component based design principals and pattern library's for enterprise CMS solutions to include Adobe AEM, Crownpeak & Sitecore.
