Our client, a Global Firm, is seeking a Product Manager to join them based in the general Boston suburban area.

Responsible for product management activities for multiple products, or one strategic product in an agile environment. The product management function defines and develops new products, manages cross organization efforts to ensure approval, then directs their introduction. The function plans, develops and implements new products. When they apply to existing content areas, products tend to be special features for existing programs. Gathers input to define product concepts. Justifies expenditures for products. Defines and analyzes markets. Evaluates technologies.
Develops detailed product features and requirements, and develops implementation plans. Serves as a major resource to other product managers, assisting them in the resolution of complex problems or leading them on larger projects. Leads cross-functional teams to envision new product features. Coordinates among a wide range of cross-functional internal and external resources to ensure that products get to market per specifications, within budget and on schedule. Implements activities that generally impact multiple components / processes and the work of own and possibly other units / teams / projects. Typically assigned to strategic / complex undertakings. Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of the professional function and advanced in-depth specialization in some. Participates in developing technical / business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools. Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions. Leads in coordinating with outside vendors and strategic partners to ensure that new product initiatives are well-defined and delivered on time and within budget. Receives work in the form of short- and mid-term outcomes that regularly require the application of independent judgment and creativity. Mentors less experienced
members of the team. Work is subject to management review at defined milestones. Operates within the context of defined operating outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages activities relating to the design and development of software or hardware products and qualification or re-qualification of new and existing products
  • Works with stakeholders to define the product vision and effectively communicate the vision to the team and stakeholders
  • Owns the program backlog and implementation
  • Proactively identifies and presents opportunities that address challenges faced by the organization and drive a competitive advantage through analysis of industry trends and customer needs
  • Defines iterations and user stories
  • Ensures each iteration delivers working software and each release is a minimally viable set of features
  • Enables clear, concise and effective reporting and communication flow across product and technical teams
  • Assists in the adoption and maturing of agile practices across the SAFe Train
  • Works with a cross-functional team to ensure fulfillment of product requirements, evaluates product performance and transition products from development
  • Assists in determining product delivery and deployment dates for new product releases, feature and maintenance releases and regular corrective service or service pack releases
  • Acts as a technical consultant to the product organization and leads research, and prototyping of innovative technologies and products
  • Ensures the technology and architectural roadmap of engineering is properly aligned with and supports the product/business road map
  • Acts as a customer liaison on technical issues related to product integration, custom development and requirements
  • May lead major releases and ensure feature enhancements respond to customer requests
  • Responsible for product delivery managing schedules and tasks related to all aspects of product development
