Onward Search has an exciting opportunity for a Solutions Architect at a top CPA & Consulting firm located in the East Bay. You will be challenged to turn solutions around quickly but thoughtfully, balancing speed to market with quality, longevity and scalability, all in the name of extraordinary customer experiences and streamlined internal processes. Candidates with experience in MS Azure are highly preferred!

This is a full-time opportunity located in the East Bay that kicks off ASAP!


  • Lead the development of a Business Technology and Architecture Roadmap in partnership with the IT Leadership team
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to build domain knowledge and deliver solutions that align with business strategy
  • Collaborate closely with the IT-Infrastructure lead to determine optimal solutions aligning system/architecture roadmaps to Business Technology needs
  • Specify and design solutions that add value and efficiency across business areas and systems. Evaluate and undertake impact analyses on significant design options and assess associated risks. Ensure that the system design balances functional, quality, security, governance and systems management requirements
  • Define, maintain, and manage architecture models, frameworks and artifacts (e.g. current and future state application architecture diagrams, data models, etc.)
  • Design, and execute pilots, prototypes and/or proof of concepts
  • Mentor team members to deliver solutions as well as expand their awareness of technology aspects of the enterprise
  • Develop multi-year application modernization roadmap plans in partnership with the IT team
  • Partner with the PMO to plan out development and delivery of projects on the roadmap to meet business requirements as well as time/budget constraints
  • Research, analyze and promote application technology standards to be used across the enterprise


  • 8+ years’ experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Reporting, Solution Delivery - hands-on from a solution/architecture perspective.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or any other degree with equivalent work experience in technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to own technology roadmap and align it with business strategy by collaborating with different groups.
  • Hands-on experience with or conceptual understanding of Web, API, Data Technologies on Microsoft/Open Source technology stack.
  • Expertise in engaging in complex data challenges and information management projects.
  • Experience in providing technical leadership in project delivery.
  • Experience leading and managing an enterprise development workstream involving several systems and diverse skill sets.
  • Proven track record of delivering highly scalable and reliable solutions through multiple cycles.
  • Solid understanding of Windows Systems Architecture and in-depth knowledge of how internal applications and infrastructure work together.
  • Strong experience required in developing system/application/data integration strategies and execution.
  • Deep technical experience in one or more of the following areas: Software design and development, Cloud Application Design, and PaaS.
  • Experience managing cloud environments and awareness around nuances of cloud resource optimization.
  • Experience in one or more Programming languages - SQL, uSQL, NoSQL, DAX, R, C#/Python.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Database architectures & analytics, Virtualization, Security, Data warehousing, big data (Hadoop, Spark), NoSQL, and BI tools.
  • Current with emerging computing trends like AI and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
