Onward Play is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Mission Designer to join our dynamic video game studio clients. As a Senior Technical Mission Designer, you will play a crucial role in creating immersive and engaging gameplay experiences using Unreal Engine. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and optimize complex missions, quests, and level-based content in our games.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the design, art, and engineering teams to conceptualize and develop compelling mission designs that align with the game's vision and mechanics.
• Utilize your extensive knowledge of mission design principles, level scripting, and gameplay mechanics to create exciting and challenging missions that enhance player engagement.
• Implement missions and quests using Unreal Engine's blueprint system, ensuring proper functionality, balancing, and pacing.
• Prototype and iterate on mission designs, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and playtesters to refine and improve the player experience.
• Collaborate with environment artists to create visually appealing and thematically cohesive mission spaces and level layouts.
• Work closely with programmers to identify and address technical challenges related to mission design and ensure optimal performance and functionality.
• Collaborate with the narrative team to ensure mission designs integrate seamlessly with the game's story and lore.
• Contribute to the documentation of mission design processes, tools, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain a high standard of quality.

 

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mission design for video games, with at least 2 years of experience using Unreal Engine.
• Strong proficiency in mission design tools, systems, and methodologies, with a deep understanding of gameplay mechanics and level design principles.
• Expertise in Unreal Engine's blueprint system and scripting languages.
• Proven ability to design and implement engaging and memorable missions that provide a challenging and satisfying player experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to iterate on designs based on feedback and playtest results.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• A passion for video games and a solid understanding of industry trends and best practices.
• A portfolio showcasing your previous mission design work, highlighting your creativity, technical proficiency, and attention to detail.

Pay: $110,000 - $125,000 yearly
