Onward Search is seeking a TECHNICAL DIRECTOR for one of our gaming clients in LA. This is a cool company with a great team in place. This talented individual will have a BA in Computer Science or equivalent work experience who can manage a team of 5+ engineers and who has experience shipping products, leading a team and has mad technical skills.

The perfect candidate will have 7+ years of industry experience and 2-3 in a supervisory/leadership role.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills an absolute MUST.
  • A clear, calm, and technically-minded decision-making process.
  • The ability to balance short and long-term goals in dynamic indie culture.
  • Experience with, and an understanding of, how to lead, mentor and manage a team of onsite and remote engineers.
  • The ability to work and coordinate with different disciplines and their respective leads.
  • Adaptable and flexible with working in fast-paced, ever-evolving work environment.
  • The ability to manage expectations, set goals and also ensure that goals are met.
  • An understanding of cross-platform development including mobile devices and consoles.
  • A solid understanding of C++ and best practices, additional languages a plus.
  • A breadth of technical experience covering many aspects of game development (from networking and graphics to tools and automation).
  • Familiarity with scheduling and production tools, experience in JIRA is a huge plus.
  • The ability to foresee problems, roadblocks, and pitfalls before they occur.
  • Must have shipped at least three titles.
  • Familiarity with on-going live operations (such as an MMORPG, MOBA or other similar genres).
  • Must not be afraid to be hands-on with coding, when needed.
  • Nice to have an understanding of web-services such as AWS.
  • Following languages a plus: Python, Erlang, Scripting languages such as Mel, LUA.
