JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client, a video game company, is seeking a Technical Program Manager III to join the team.
Responsibilities:
- Reduces ambiguity in a complex and diverse problem space through technical discovery, R&D, and documentation
- Will be a department lead
- Works collaboratively with teams and customers to accomplish deliverables
- Creates updates to tech management department and production and broadcast stakeholders
- Participates in the engineering interview process
- Ensures the team is adhering to engineering excellence which includes: systems maintainability, quality, reliability, monitoring, operational excellence, and documentation
- Travel to the event that is actively worked on to deliver the show (events are typically anywhere from 4-8 weeks in length)
- Provides and champions "definition of done" to the broadcast and tech teams
- Owns the resolution of cross-team systemic issues
- Reviewing the way current systems are operating and creating efficiencies and improvements
- Work independently or with external vendors on integration projects and supporting equipment commissioning and training
- Be a technical lead for live events and support other broadcast engineers on technical implementation and delivery of complex projects on the road (inclusive of all technical departments servicing the event)
- Evaluation of new technology and industry trends
- Developing an understanding of engineering excellence and non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, maintainability, and resilience
- Work collaboratively with teams and customers to accomplish deliverables
- Works as a cooler. Regularly reduces noise, friction, and other ineffective and harmful patterns for the team
- Helps grow engineering teams by supporting recruiting and hiring efforts such as conducting technical interviews, assessing candidates, and defining interview kits
- Leads the breaking down and execution of multi-month work efforts in scope collaborating with team leadership. This regularly includes collaboration across disciplines and other teams of engineers.
Required Qualifications
- 6-8+ years experience in the field (depending on degree)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing and supporting large-scale broadcast systems from scratch, including gathering requirements and designing scalable, production-ready architecture Experience as a technical project manager
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex broadcast and IT/Network systems
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple on-going projects
- Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to analyze problems across a variety of broadcast facets to design and manage holistic solutions
- Strong understanding of large scale remote broadcast production , encoding methods , wide area IP networks
- Experience working on a team developing large systems from scratch, including gathering requirements and designing scalable, production-ready architecture
- Able to work collaboratively with others to achieve goals. Ability to work with large distinct teams to meet a common goal/delivery.
- Experience in all aspects of what it takes for large scale end to end development (efficiency, scalability, operability, maintainability, etc) inclusive of breaking down the project and working across your immediate team or closely related teams.
- Displays mastery of the major broadcast industry-standard tools, systems, signals, protocols, and formats
- Proven ability to solve highly complex and diverse problems that require the ability to evaluate multiple variables
- Driving - Proven ability to determine methods and procedures on new work efforts and acts as a team lead
