Our client, a Consumer Products Company, is seeking a freelance Toy Product Designer to join the Consumer Products team.

You will report to the Design Manager and be responsible for:

  • Responsible for product design and development of Consumer Products for Toy categories
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with Licensees and vendors, working with licensees in all creative aspects of product development
  • Handles product approvals via OPA (Online Product Approval system) including creative revisions, uploading and downloading detailed artwork overlays and comments, and prioritizing approvals within allotted time
  • Ensures product design excellence by making character and product corrections, creating new artwork and making artistic contributions to new initiatives
  • Applies knowledge of new trends and innovation in marketplace able to recommend creative ideas and products to build business
  • Presents and sells ideas to management, cross-functional partners, and licensees
  • Coordinates with Manager on new projects and scheduled deadlines
  • Limited domestic travel for onsite product approval with licensees and trade shows
  • Support branding objectives through ensuring product reflect quality and aesthetics ensuring aesthetic and details are accurate and true to the character/film.
  • Creating dynamic products within Girls Toys franchises, working with team to extend existing business and generating new business.
  • Work with licensees to create new and innovative products every season for their assigned categories.


  • Degree in Design, Arts/Graphics areas
  • 2-4 years of experience in hardlines product design experience
  • Portfolio showcasing toy products from concept through production
  • Experience working with internal teams and licensees, collaborating daily
  • Well versed in market trends, especially in toy and doll categories, and fashion trends.
  • Must be able to multi-task working on multiple projects at any given time
  • Exhibits ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness
  • Passionate about toys and working with top quality brands
