Onward Search is looking for a User Interface Developer in Memphis, TN.

Job Overview:

A User Interface Developer will be a member of the User Experience team, part of the Digital group and will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.

Job Purpose:

The User Interface Developer will focus on user-centered design practices and will take primary responsibility for the visual design, interaction design, and user interface design and development. The position will work collaboratively across every team including our engineering, product and marketing teams as well as internal business partners in the organizations.

This position will concentrate on building, maintaining and iterating web based digital products in support of the interactive group’s focus areas. They will take an active role in the planning of design work in agile ceremonies and contribute in peer-reviews of other designers work.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as an advocate for user-centered design that balances user needs with business objectives
  • Works with partners in marketing and business development to seamlessly communicate the brand mission, voice and benefits across all communication channels
  • Builds prototypes to rapidly evaluate and validate designs
  • Collaborates with Content Strategy, Creative Services, Creative Media Services, Marketing Strategy, and Brand Marketing


  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as an interactive designer or UI developer
  • Ability to think creatively and provide marketable solutions in conceiving, developing, and producing digital products
  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles and practices. Can comfortably lead collaborative design sessions with contributors from multiple disciplines
  • Knowledgeable of development methodologies especially related to front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Knowledge of Sass and Angular is a plus.
  • Experience in brand development and visual style guides
  • Experience in creative review and critique, and ability to clearly articulate design principles and give constructive assessments
  • Ability to interact well with team members and business users; excellent project management skills and excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience and comfort presenting and defending creative concepts and digital products to business partners, management and senior executives
  • Keen business sense, able to guide and adapt the expression of our company brand in a variety of contexts including our site, mobile products, email and digital marketing materials
  • Bachelor's degree in design related field of study or equivalent experience in related field

Demonstrated complete understanding of:

  • Color theory and color relationships
  • Typographic systems as they apply to a brand system
  • Page composition and grid structures
  • ­­­­Photography and the photographic process


  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
