User Researcher

Onward Search is hiring a User Researcher for an international financial client on a 6-month contract basis. This is a 40-hour a week on-site role. On-site is required, no exceptions.

Candidates may sit in Columbus, OH, New York City, or Wilmington, DE.

Summary:
The HX Design team seeks a UX Researcher to work on the Digital Transformation journey to improve the clarity and transparency of data that CCB Finance uses to manage bank operations and initiatives.

As a Researcher for the DCE Finance team, you will be joining a team that is focused on improving the way the CCB Finance group handles data on topics such as headcount and expenses, forecasting and planning, and month-end financial reporting. Our audiences include Business Support teams for Field Finance, Controllers, Planning & Analysis teams, and Chief Financial Officers. While this design team tilts heavily towards strategy, service design, and UX best practice guidance and less towards bespoke solutions, it offers exposure to technology not seen in other areas of the bank, including Large Language Models, Artificial Intelligence, and ChatGPT.

You will work closely with UX Leads and Researchers, Product Owners, Project Managers, and Tech teams.

Responsibilities:

• Interview support, note-taking, and documentation
• Persona refinement, user flows, and process mapping
• Workshop prep and synthesis, survey design, and presentations
• Managing the balance between end user needs and business stakeholder goals
• Providing timely and articulate progress updates
• Gathering hypotheses from team members to inform research plans

• Good writing skills and a passion for storytelling
• Experience in both qualitative and quantitative research.
• Experience analyzing research data to verify hypotheses and identify themes
• Comfortable with PowerPoint, Excel, Fig Jam
• Ability to pivot gracefully when project priorities shift and change
• Experience presenting and socializing research findings
• Understanding of design artifacts like personas, empathy maps, and user journeys
• Experience with user testing and/or concept testing
• Experience with conducting remote interviews following a research script

• Financial services experience a plus
• Familiarity with design thinking and research driven design
• Passion for data visualization and familiarity with search patterns & behaviors
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Tableau, Agile methodology and JIRA a plus
• Experience with large language models, natural language search, and ChatGPT a plus
• Familiarity with the Jobs to be Done framework or Lean Research
