Onward Search is looking for a UX Designer to join our agency client in Arlington, Virginia for an onsite contract-to-hire opportunity!
You will be responsible for supporting the experience design, navigation, organization, interaction design, and business/user process engineering for leading-edge Web solutions, software, mobile, and other interactive devices.
The best fit for this role will be a strong UX designer with experience applying user-centered design methods to translate user needs, business objectives, and technology capabilities into world-class user experiences for leading companies and the public sector.
Must collaborate with client stakeholders, developers, and business analysts to define business problems and prototype solutions
Identify opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience
Ability to design user interfaces for large-scale Web-based applications where efficient task completion and fulfillment are critical for business success
Maintain and update an interactive and visual style guide
Ability to evaluate existing sites in terms of their usefulness, usability, efficient task completion, and layout
Participate in user testing sessions; support the lead experience designers in the sessions
Identify and document meaningful patterns from the user research, audit the findings; provide recommendations to the client/internal team based on findings
Ability to create strategies for persuasive design and present concepts to clients and internal stakeholders
Promote systems thinking in design
Create prototypes using Axure
Conduct periodic Knowledge Sharing sessions
Integrate into Agile teams and attend daily scrums
Must be highly focused on deliverables with strong attention to detail
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or University
3-7 years of professional experience working as a UX Designer
Prior experience working in EITHER an advertising agency OR in the oil, gas, and energy industry strongly preferred
Knowledge of agile product environments and processes preferred
Excellent verbal and written skills
Ability to work on multiple projects or tracks of work simultaneously
Experience creating deliverables such as sitemaps and wireframes
Experience working in prototyping tools such as Axure
Understand designing for accessibility
Experience designing UI for complex web applications preferred
Strong skills in interaction design and visual design
Analytical and process-oriented skills
Ability to conduct in-depth functional conversations with technical team members
Must be able to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams
Capability to independently complete the work
Ideates, sketches, and prototypes for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
Ability to develop Navigation Models, Primary and Secondary Navigation structure
Able to analyze task flows, task decompositions and create optimal Task Flow
Develop frameworks describing key aspects of proposed experience and how it reconciles business/user needs
Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident
Eligible for U.S. Government Clearance
