Onward Search is hiring a UX IA Design Manager for a 6-month contract position with an International Education client with an office in Morrisville, NC

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to join the team, who will be responsible for delivering iterative wireframes focused on the needs of the user, and elegant final designs. Working closely with existing UI and UX teams within Pearson to deliver content creation and enrichment components for internal customers. The right person will have had experience in similar projects working with a blend of on and offshore design and development teams. The successful candidate will bring an enthusiasm for clean, accessible UI and innovative technical solutions to the project.

Day to Day Functions:

  • Working closely with our UX/UI teams to generate clear interfaces that meet our branding style guides and accessibility guidelines
  • Working in a collaborative, innovative and flexible team using an Agile and continuous integration approach
  • Proposing solutions that balance user needs with business goals and technical guidelines
  • Run user testing sessions to keep design decisions focused on the user
  • Work closely with the front-end development team to ensure the HTML / CSS assets are in line with the UX wireframes, UI designs and support modern accessibility standards.
  • Take part in daily stand-ups and relevant sprint demos to progress projects
  • Work with globally distributed users to run UX workshops, gathering input and seeking sign offs.
  • Creating user journeys, user flows, wireframes and interactive prototypes
  • Contributing designs to internal pattern libraries
  • Direct domain experience - specifically authorization


  • Experience with noteworthy for UI/UX
  • Familiarity with assessments from an education model (Education tech space) 5-7 years of experience
  • Essential An online portfolio that demonstrates all the skills needed for the role - design and development simple solutions to complex problems
  • Expert knowledge of wireframing software (Axure, Balsamiq etc), designing great UI in Sketch, prototyping in Invision, and posting designs to Zeplin
  • Adobe CC 5+ years working as a digital designer in a commercial environment
  • Good eye for typography, layout, composition and craft
  • Solid understanding of UX best practice and web standards
  • Good time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical

  • The client is unable to support 1099 / Corp-to-Corp or Independent Contractor arrangements at this time. All freelancers will be paid as W2 employees.
